The next morning Maybelle woke in Trey’s arms, in his bed, embraced in his veryverynaked and delicious warmth. Trey apparently was already awake and must have felt her stir because he lifted himself up on an elbow to look down at Maybelle as he brushed her frizzy mess of bed head out of her face.

“Good morning, beautiful.” He said with a dimpled framed grin that had Maybelle’s limbs melting to goo.

“Good morning.” She replied as she examined the way the sun light broke through the curtains lighting up the caramel highlights of Trey's chocolate brown hair, brightening his emerald eyes.

His skin was smooth, due to his recent shave, his smile straight and bold, his hair toppled over his brows and the veins in his forearms bulged as Trey continued to play with the hair that cascaded around her face.

“Goodness, you’re pretty.” Maybelle whispered and Trey chuffed before placing a gentle kiss on her collarbone.

“You think so?” He asked placing a few more kisses down her chest, in between her breasts.

“Mmhm.” Maybelle breathed, arching her back into his touches and kisses. Trey moved his lips across the plane of herstomach then down her hips and her thighs, so close to wear she ached for him. His fingers drew lazy soft patterns on the sides of her bare thighs as he lightly kissed and teased the places of her skin that begged for so much more.

“Trey.” She nearly whimpered.

Instead of answering her pleas he climbed back up, bringing them nose to nose as he smiled.

“Not yet, love. We have things to do today.”

Maybelle glowered.

“No—youhave things to do. Things being me.” She snipped and Trey pulled her legs up around his waist as he chuckled into her neck.

“Oh, I would love nothing more than to lay you out and have you for breakfast but that will have to wait. Just trust me?” He asked and she conceded.

“Fine.”

Trey grinned wider into the skin of her neck then he was lifting off the bed, bringing her, her legs still wrapped around his middle, with him into the bathroom and the shower.

It wasn’t until around early afternoon Trey and Maybelle finally pulled up to a beach. Trey was being so weird. Actually, all of her friends were being weird. Bear had gotten up extra early to cook only Maybelle waffles with caramel syrup. Larson obviously and painfully had bitten back every tease and taunt in each conversation and Williams was super touchy. Like, he kept pulling her into a hug every two seconds saying how happy he was that she was there.

Maybe she was dying, and Trey brought her to the beach to tell her? Even Penny was absolutely MIA, avoiding every single one of her texts and calls.

“You ready for our walk?” Trey asked as he pulled the keys from the ignition. Maybelle narrowed her eyes at him and then at the sun dress she was wearing.

When Maybelle told Penny the day before that she would be spending the night and surprise day with Trey who had planned to do who knows what, Penny insisted on picking her outfit. Maybelle always stuck to the neutrals, basic tops, and comfortable pants but Penny vowed, with no particular reason, that she would want to wear something a bit more girly for the occasion. Penny offered up a gorgeous, jade green, sun dress from the back of her closet.

It had cap sleeves, a bodice that held snug to her chest and waist then flared into a twirly skirt that stopped at her knees. Maybelle gratefully accepted, because if Penny knew anything, it was fashion and how to drive a man wild with it.

“You want me to try walking through the sand, in this thing?” Maybelle asked gesturing to the dress.

Trey’s eyes tore at where the dress hugged her chest and flounced up her thighs, “I have so many things I would like to see you do in that dress. But for right now, yes. Just a short walk. You can even hold my hand the whole time for balance if you like.” Trey offered, grasping for her hand.

Maybelle let their fingers intertwine as she smiled at him, “Ok, handsome. Lead the way.”

Trey was opening her door and showing her down to the beach within moments, “You know, you fight with me a lot less now. Why is that?”

“I don’t know, guess there’s no point in giving you a hard time when you already won me over and made me yours.” She said bumping her hip into his as they stepped onto the sand.

“Oh, May, it’s cute that you think there was a time that you weren’t mine.” Trey gifted her a wry smile, wrapping his arm around her waist, graciously carrying most of her weight and balancing her out.

Trey led her to an area of sheer rock, where the waves clapped against and only a few miscellaneous people explored.Maybelle studied the leafy vines and pink flowers that climbed and weaved into the earth, and the rock wall that cast a shadow onto the sand and— Penny?

Before Maybelle could ask or barely even react to her recognition of her best friend the redhead had raced and collided with Maybelle making her stagger a few steps back away from Trey who just smiled at the interaction.

“Oh Bells! I’ll get out of your hair, I promise! I just wanted to make sure I saw you today and got to tell you I love you and happy birthday!” Penny squealed and Maybelle almost choked.
