EPILOGUE

Five years later…

“I am getting an odd sense of déjà vu.” Maybelle snarked as Penny and Chelsea ganged up on her white dress, pulling the tight-fitting fabric up her body.

“Yes, well this what happens when you have such a fine ass and thin waist, Belles.” Penny griped as she and Chelsea finished their ministrations on the beautiful wedding dress that was now painted to Maybelle’s body. The perfection of the whiteand cream, lacy fabric enhancing each supple curve, falling into a pool at her feet.

Maybelle’s curls were on full display cascading down her exposed back, a dainty amount of baby’s breath flowers decorating throughout her frizzy mane.

“May, honey, you look amazing.” Chelsea gushed, tears pricking the corners of her doe-like eyes.

Maybelle pulled her mother in heart and soon to be in-law into a hug, “Thank you, Chels.”

Gracie skipped into the room, dressed in her pale blue bridesmaids’ dress, same as Penny, “Hey Penn, I did what I could to light a fire under some asses. Everyone should be heading in here to go over the plan for walking down the aisle.” Gracie explained with her eyes trained on Penny, the maid of honor and self-appointed wedding planner.

Penny clapped her hands together, determination written all over her striking, pale, freckled face, “Right, let’s get this show on the road, ladies!” At her summoning, Hannah Lacy emerged from a closet now also clothed in pale blue. Her sweet smile a welcome sight.

“Shall I go prepare the rings for our handsome ring bearer?” Hannah inquired and Penny snapped to attention.

“Yes! Speaking of which, where is our little star?” As if he sensed his Auntie Penny’s call, the most beautiful blonde, curly haired boy, with the brightest, blue eyes in a small tan suit and blue bow tie came squealing into the room, his Uncle Noah in tow.

“I’m coming for you little man!” Williams warned and the chubby boy went running to his mom.

Maybelle gladly scooped her greatest blessing up into her arms, cradling him against her chest, planting a lipgloss kiss to a round cheek.

“Hello my little twin.” She cooed and he nestled into herhold, suddenly embarrassed by the realization that all eyes in the room were on him. Her baby, her precious twin, her Liam Mason Turner. Three years old and the center of her whole world.

“Ok, best man I need you to stop riling up our favorite little guy and get the groom’s ass in here, it’s go time!” Penny exclaimed, gathering bouquets.

Williams met her halfway, helping gather the flowers as he noted, “I thought this was Maybelle’s wedding not yours, why are you going bridezilla on all our asses?” The tease didn’t land its intended lighthearted hit but only Maybelle noticed as Penny smiled sweetly.

“You plan the next wedding and see how you fair, Noah Williams.” Their banter was entertaining enough, seeming like a good time but Maybelle knew, Penny was not her usual self. She hadn’t been for the last two years since Daniel… Well, that’s a long story for another time.Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Williams lost track of the volleying comebacks when Hannah stepped up by his side. He instinctively swung his arm around her waist drawing her into him, “You look beautiful, four eyes.” Williams’s impish grin was adorable as he watched Hannah push her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

“I guess you don’t look so bad yourself, jock.” She returned. Hannah and Williams had been long distance dating for over a year now, after Trey and Maybelle set them up on a blind date. Post college, Williams got drafted to the Miami Dolphins, leaving the width of a whole country between them as he played, and she opened up a local bookstore. The two of them together made Maybelle’s heart swell, and their exchange was amusing since she knew Williams planned to ask Hannah to move out to Florida with him later that night. Helping fulfill her dream to finally escape their hometown and giving her a beautiful beach house, he bought for her with a gorgeous library and reading nook included. It satisfied Maybelle’s romancecraving soul to see it all work out between them.

Chelsea had left the room but returned quickly on the arm of a very tall man Maybelle and Trey had grown to love deeply over the years.

“Miss Belle.” He greeted and Maybelle smiled.

“Doctor Nathaniel Brown. Don’t you look dashing.” She acknowledged. After months of waiting for Chelsea to spill the beans on her secret relationship she finally invited him over for dinner a couple months after Maybelle and Trey’s engagement.

To say Maybelle and Trey were surprised would be an understatement but the happiness they felt at seeing Chelsea grinning up at Nathaniel like he hung the moon and stars was indescribable. Having him mold himself into their lives was easy and extremely fun. So many memories had already been made during family trips, game nights that brought the doctor’s competitive side out and then watching him propose to Chelsea a few months later. They hadn’t tied the knot officially yet, Chelsea wanted to wait til after Maybelle and Trey eventually got their turn down the aisle, even after all of Maybelle’s begging for them not to wait.

Gracie sidled up next to Maybelle, trying to get a rise out of the sweet boy that grew heavier in Maybelle’s arms.

“Someone is sleepy.” Gracie observed, holding and caressing Liam’s small hand.

“Yeah, it’s nap time. Obviously, my fantastic wedding planner is not a mom because she planned my wedding right in the middle of the most important time of the day.” Maybelle jeered and Penny immediately popped up, dragging a play pen up to them with a cocky grin on her painted lips.

“She’s not a mom, but she is a damn good wedding planner.” Penny quipped.

Maybelle chuckled, “How did I ever doubt you?”

“I don’t know, but don’t let it happen again.” Pennyscolded holding her hands out to accept the baby.

Maybelle tightened her arms around the softly breathing mush in her hold, “Just a few more minutes, it’s rare he cuddles like this with me anymore.”
