Now Williams, Trey, Larson, and Bear were all roommates and Trey could not be more thankful for the friendship of someone from home, someone who knew and loved Liam a fraction of what he did.

“Trey! Oh my god, how are you?” That squeaky voice grated on every single one of his nerves.

Juliette Miller was a lean, busty brunette on the cheerleading team. She was tall, legs for days, with a model worthy face but holy hell she had the personality of a brick wall and the freaking attitude of a spoiled princess.

Juliette has had her heat seeking missiles trained on Trey for the last month or two. She had been making her rounds amongst the players and apparently decided it was his turn for a ride and she refused to take no for an answer.

Trey tried multiple times to let the woman down easy, but she just would not accept it. Which made life difficult for him because Trey was nice to a fault.

He could never let himself be unkind or get angry at the annoying woman. So, he just kept turning her away nicely and enduring her when they ran into one another in situations such as this.

Even if he did decide one day, he didn’t give a flying eff about her feelings, which was often tempting, her very protective uncle was his defensive coach. Nuff said, he was caught between a rock and a hard place.

Trey put a hand on Williams's shoulder, then nodded his acknowledgment to the woman sitting on the stool next to him, “I’m headed out, I’ll see you Monday.” He said to his buddy before he swung his bag over his shoulder and stepped toward the front door.

“Alright bro, drive safe and have a good weekend home.” Williams called back.

Trey was out the door and headed toward the stairs for the parking lot when the horrid sound of light footsteps came clicking up behind him, “Trey, Trey, Trey.”

He did a quick glance over the edge of the stair rail, maybe he could get away with just a small sprain if he jumped off the side and free fell the few flights of stairs.

He was too late, Juliette was already grabbing and pulling him into a hug by his shirt. He nearly instinctively sent the cheerleader sailing over the railing because this was a nice shirt and she no doubt just stretched the absolute shit out of it with that stunt.

“Trey, I hate to see you go! We have so many fun things planned for this weekend that you will be missing out on!” Juliette whined and Trey wanted to jump out in front of a bus.

“Sorry Juliette, I need to get going. Have a great weekend.” He made to turn away and she tore at his freaking shirt again. The exhaustion and angst were definitely getting to Trey because he almost bit her head off, but she smacked a big wet, lipstick kiss against his cheek before he could say or do anything.

“I’m going to miss you so much, have the best weekend, Trey. Call me when you get bored.” She blew him a kiss and swayed away from him back to the apartment in a way that was probably supposed to be sexy, but it only made him want to gouge his own eyes out.

The drive home waslong, longer feeling than usual. He just wanted to see his girl and get some sleep. When he finally pulled up it was close to two in the morning, he shot a text to his mom, letting her know he made it then made a beeline for Maybelle’s room.

Like he expected, she was dead asleep and looking so goddamned beautiful he wanted to weep with happiness. Trey reverently dropped his bag against the wall next to her desk, slid the door close then quietly knelt beside her bed. He just wanted to see her and then get to his own room, he told himself.

Maybelle was on her back, curls billowing all around her head and across her face. Trey silently sucked in a breath as he brushed a few stray hairs off her cheeks.

This sleeping goddess before him was enchanting, absolutely breathtaking. The moonlight through the window was just enough to light up her hair, the freckles on her nose and those plump, kissable lips.

He needed to stop staring like a freak and get to his own room, so Trey placed a light kiss on his Maybelle’s cheek then made to stand before a small hand wrapped around his wrist.

“Trey?”

Now that voice, that voice sang to him. Made all the shit life had to offer melt away, made the clouds disappear and gave the sun power to shine. Trey turned to see Maybelle’s eyes still shut but she held firmly to him.

“Hey, gorgeous. Sorry to wake you, I just pulled in.” He whispered as he knelt back down, resting his elbows on the side of the mattress pressed into her warm side.

A small, tired smile pulled at her lips while her eyes remained closed, “I’m so glad you’re home.”

“Me too.” He said lowly as he pressed a kiss to the knuckles of the hand that still hadn’t let go of his wrist.

Maybelle rolled onto her side, fully facing him, “Stay with me? And wake me up when you get up?” She whispered, partly into her pillow. Trey then placed a light peck on her nose which she scrunched in response.

“Of course.”

He salvaged a pillow and blanket then fell asleep on her rug, watching the moonlight dance across her face and curls, touching her in a way he wished he could at that moment.

Trey woke to a gentle tug on his arm and light whispering. He blinked his eyes open to find Maybelle leaning down from the bed pulling at his arm. It was still dark, but the purpling light of dawn was ghosting her bedroom with its presence.

His vision finally cleared, and he was cognizant enough to register what Maybelle was saying.
