Staring at Luna Adia I couldn’t help but want to kill Alpha Roy. She had always been a wonderful person and probably the only one that didn’t mind me being so brutal. We had trained together and then when she found out she was mated to Alpha Roy she balanced him out. She was a great Luna and I wonder what the pack was doing now that their Luna wasn’t there. Did they know? Or did they think that she had left to go do something?

The balance that she held on Alpha Roy shattered when Fin’s tyrant uncle had come into power. He started to change then. I had never seen him come to our pack. But his tyranny was felt even in our pack. I didn’t even know that he wasn’t the actual alpha until I met Fin.

“Doc what happened to her?” Fin’s voice brought me out of my thoughts and my gaze went to Doc. His eyes held a sorrow I felt within myself.

“Poison. Same kind as the others that have been put on our territory.” Doc covered her face and then pushed her in the cooler and shut the door. Which was good in my case because the longer I stared at her the more I wanted Alpha Roy’s head on a pike.

I shook my head. Was Alpha Roy losing his mind? Why did he do this? My hand went to Fin’s arm as I tried to continue to wrap my head around the craziness about this. Fin’s hand covered mine as we stood in front of Doc.

“Have we found out what type of poison? Wolfsbane?” Fin questioned as Doc went over to the computers.

“We have found that this is a hybrid poisoning. It does have wolfsbane in it but the more lethal poison is from the plant called Oleander, or its kingdom nameNerium oleander.I found some in each of the ones that have been poisoned along with Luna Nikita.” Doc’s eyes went to me.

“I’ve been poisoned before. They gave the poison to warrior wolves to get them to be intolerant to the poison. They never told us what was in it.”

“They must have been doing that to keep other packs from poisoning their warriors. No wonder you were able to survive. Small doses build immunity which would then help you recover. But whoever is doing this must have been giving more than what their bodies are used to.” Doc’s hand wrapped around his jaw as he sat there at the computer.

“When you find something out, let me know.”

Doc stood and walked us out of the morgue and into the hallway of the pack hospital. Fin and I continued in silence as we stepped into the elevator to get back to the first floor.

“Fin what is going on here? Have you heard from the informant?”

“No, not in some time. He might have been found. I need to find someone to go find out.”

I nodded to him while we strolled through the pack at night. It was nice out tonight even though it was getting closer to winter. We had never walked the pack like this before. The silence between us allowed me to gaze around at the stars and woods.

Eyes from the wolves that were patrolling the woods shone in the dark making it look like the stars had fallen and now shown in between the trees. Other than the rocky start, this pack has been more home than Shonkinite ever was.

Fin and I headed into the packhouse and up the stairs. Dinner was coming to an end but I wasn’t hungry anymore since seeing Adia.

“Are you going to continue to read your mother’s journal?” I glanced up to Fin and he gave me a small smile.

“Yeah, I’m closer to her Luna ceremony and I’m hoping that she will mention who her sister’s mate is. I’m also hoping she tells me what happened before my birth.”

Fin’s hands slid over my cheeks and into my hair. “You learn as much as you need to feisty wolf. I’m going to go take a shower and think of a way to tell this alpha that his luna is on a table in my morgue.”

“I don’t think we need to tell him. There is something wrong with him and I think we need to find out what that is before we cause a war. Because that right there will.” My fingers slid along his forearms as he pulled me into a kiss. The feel of his muscles as they tighten under his skin made my core pulse.

“Fine. We will wait and I’ll see what has happened to the informant.” Fin kissed me once more before heading into the bedroom.

I went to the balcony and grabbed my mother’s journal. Making my way into the bedroom I placed it on the table next to my side of the bed and stripped naked. I hopped in while grabbing the journal and snuggled in under the covers. The luna ceremony was like any other ceremony, nothing crazy or special during that day. She did mention that her sister didn’t get to make it to it.

I skipped a few entries to land on one that caught my eye.

Today my nephew was born. He is such a wonderful boy and he looks just like his father. Blue eyes and black hair. They named him Archer after our father. I was fortunate that I was here visiting after my loss. It had hit hard on both me and Cain. My parents think that something is wrong with me since this is the second time that I have lost my pup. But I have never been perfect in their eyes. That was always my sister.

They are here as well and they are ever so excited. I wonder if they would ever be that way with my pup. Cooing and babbling to the pup. If I continue to lose them I would never know.

Being twenty-four and mated along multiple heats, Cain is starting to get upset and I feel like he will end up leaving me to find another female that would be able to give him an heir. Would the Moon Goddess be that cruel to me? I’m so afraid that he will and it’s eating at me, hence why I’m here with my sister and her mate. It’s beautiful here and everyone is nice.

Well another short entry. I have to go to bed soon. I have to travel back to Obsidian.

Ciao

So, my grandfather’s name was Archer. It’s so crazy to know that my real family was just a few days away from the Shonkinite pack. But if she was having an issue getting and staying pregnant then why would she give me away? I’m still so confused. I skipped through the book to the entry a year later.
