“Here, here,” chorus the inter-Cardinals, nodding their approval. The air feels electric with their respect and their belief in me. It’s overwhelming but in a good way.

“You do know that once I leave these grounds, you will have your own queen to find, right?”

Alex’s gaze finds mine, and he draws in a deep breath. “Pretty sure I know where to start.”

I nod briskly. “Better not be Verity Bowden,” I mutter.

He snickers. “Fuck no. I think you’ll approve, but let’s table that as well, for now.”

We share a smile that fills the chamber with light.

“We’ve come through so much shit this year. Whatever comes next... we’ll handle it.”

“Damn straight.” Damien’s voice is soft as he wraps his arms around me, and I lean my head on his chest, but it resonates with the depth of his conviction.

The room hums with our collective energy, a force that’s grown out of adversity and forged in the fire of our shared experiences. We’ve battled demons—both internal and external—and emerged scarred but stronger. This is our sanctuary, a place where every drop of spilt blood has told a story.

Closing my eyes, I take a moment to mourn the loss of the men and women who have fallen, but then I push it aside. It’s done. There is only the present and the future.

Time stretches, infinite and promising. The world above could be crumbling, but down here, in this moment, we areuntouchable. We are the masters of our fate, the creators of our destiny.

The warmth of the celebration lingers as the scene begins to blur at the edges, the details fading into the background. Then, there is peace—a deep, fulfilling calm that settles over my heart. We are the keepers of secrets, the bearers of legacy and history.

I close my eyes, content in the knowledge that this chapter of our lives closes with triumph. Ever the queen and the Four Cardinals, inseparable. Ready. Unconquered.
