My eyes widened as I took the picture in. “She’s adorable.”
We’d known for a long time that we wanted to foster. Given Tara’s past, it only felt right. We were open to babies, kids, or teenagers, as long as there was a possibility that we could eventually adopt.
Even if it was only temporary, Tara wanted to give a safe, stable home to kids who needed it. She wanted to be the kind of foster parent that she’d never had herself, and I supported that completely. I understood what she’d gone through as a kid, and I wanted to do my part to make sure other kids would never experience that.
“Should we put in a request for her?” Tara asked.
“I’m ready if you are.”
She glowed as she clicked the button. Our love for each other was ready to overflow into a baby who needed it.
And no matter what happened, whether with this child or other ones, we would continue to choose and grow our family.
