Life has been exceptionally pretty lately.

Today, I decided to do things differently because there was always an opportunity for one man to change himself so that he could contribute to his team. And I was thatman, who was going to contribute to his team and encourage them.

Not only did I want to look good, I wanted all of us to look good because we worked so hard to be where we were right now. All those training sessions, all those camps, all those hill runs all led to something special, and I was hoping that our team could see it.

The bigger goal, the clearer picture.

“What are you doing here early?” Coach asked me as I skated around the rink. A soft smile grew on my face as I skated over to the railing he leaned on.

“It’s a beautiful day for practice,” I answered and his eyebrows scrunched up as he looked at me.

“Gallagher is pretty early. What’s going on with him lately?” I heard the other team members ask as they skated onto the ice, beginning with the passes and dribbles.

“Beats me.” Brian shrugged as he strapped his gloves on his wrists. “What’s going on with you? Wouldn’t you rather be at home right now?”

I smiled and shrugged as I pushed myself away from the railing. “Life is more than just lounges and aimless stares. It’s gorgeous, and I should enjoy every moment of it.” I hit the puck and felt satisfied when it scored.

Still got it, hehehe.

“Huh?” the coach shouted and it was almost comical seeing how confused he was.Ahh, beautiful things are difficult to understand.“Well, whatever Nate is on. Let’s make sure he keeps at it!”

He clapped his hands and the boys roared out their motivations. One man, one man changes everything. And right now, the beautiful—nogorgeousinfluencer who changed that one man was about to walk in, with her camera strapped around her neck, her hair loosely tied to the back of her head since it was Thursday and she liked to take it easy on Thursdays.

Dressed in a simple button-up blouse and jeans outfit, paired with white sneakers and her cheeks rosy from how cold this area was.

Ahh, pretty indeed.

I skated alongside the players, listening to the captain’s commands because I had to impress, and I hoped that I wouldcome out looking very attractive in those pictures she would take.

I looked forward to Thursdays because not only were they the last day of practice of the week, orjean days, but because they were also picture days. Avery would come in at exactly half-past ten and she would always find me lacking. Skating on the ice looking bored and dribbling because I was forced to.

However, ever since I learned her schedule, I realized how much I didn’t like it when she found melacking. The pictures of me pouting and brooding on the ice weren’t so attractive and yet somehow they had managed to make it to the boards she would be designing. So today, early in the morning, I hitched up a plan.

I wanted her to find me sweating, and heaving hard so that I could come out as attractive as Andy did in those pictures. In each and every picture, it looked like he had posed for it, but really the guy was just dedicated to his job and he somehow looked good at it as well.

Brian also looked quite handsome and concentrated, and yet I somehow looked bored.

Bored?

I was the star, how could I be bored? Shouldn’t I have at least looked half as good as Andy and Brian did?No, I managed to look bored, like I would rather be seated on my lounger, watching my garden while the birds flew in the sky.

Yes, I would rather.

It was as peaceful as it sounded and I was tempted to leave practice, but I hadn’t gotten myconcentrated,dedicated,hot,passionateswoon-worthy shot yet and I wanted to look that amazing just for Avery.

“You’re pretty much on fire today, Nate,” Andy huffed as he leaned over and held onto his knees.

“When was the last time you made us struggle this much?” another teammate asked as he used his stick to balance himself and I realized just how invested I was in looking good for Avery that I started playing seriously.

Speaking ofAvery, where is she?

“Shit, I’m so glad you’re on our team. You’re such a bitch giving us a hard time like that,” Brian breathed out heavily as he patted my shoulder, and I offered them a sheepish smile.

Was Avery starting a new schedule?Without me?

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was giving you guys such a hard time.” I scratched the back of my head and Brian rolled his eyes as he softly pushed me away from him.

“Fuck off, you liar,” he grunted, and I chuckled as they all skated away, most showing me their middle fingers. I looked around the stadium and she was nowhere to be seen.
