The doorbell rings and I race to the door, hope choking me, but it’s Bee and Coco.

“James told me what happened with Grey,” Bee says. “We’re glad he was found, but we wanted to check on you and bring you something warm to eat. Sawyer says, anything you need…”

“We’re good, thank you.” I manage a smile for them. “I really appreciate it. Speaking of Sawyer… Does he have any idea where Casey is?”

The girls exchange looks. “The cute omega who lives with you?”

“He’s a friend of Sawyer’s and we haven’t seen him in two days. We’re getting a little worried here.”

“Crap.” Coco nods. “I’ll go ask him. Be right back.”

“Hey, Bee.” Ronin comes to lean against the wall beside me. “What’s up?”

She gives him a faint smile. I guess she’s still a bit upset about how abrupt he was with her back when she didn’t know she was an omega and her pre-heat scent had all but driven him crazy. He’s an abrupt person.

Except with me.

With our pack.

Coco comes back up the stairs, followed by Sawyer.

He’s frowning. “Hey, guys. Is this true? Casey is missing?”

“He hasn’t come home in two days. All his stuff is here.” I gesture at Casey’s room. “We don’t even have his phone number.”

Sawyer walks over to the empty room, glances inside. “Let me call him.”

He puts his phone to his ear.

A few seconds later, a ringing tone comes from Casey’s room.

We all freeze.

“No way,” I whisper. “His phone ishere?”

This is not good. I have a bad feeling in my gut about this. Where could he be? He wouldn’t leave for days on end without his phone. No way.

I start pacing the hallway. “What do we do? Where could he be? We know jack-all about him, we have no other info?—”

Sawyer says, “I only have his family address. It’s right out of town.”

“Where?” Zayne shoves his shirt into his pants. “It’s our only lead. Could he be there?”

“He ran away from his family,” Sawyer says quietly. “They were trying to push him into joining a pack. And when I saypush, I mean they basically told him he’d have to join, like it or not. It’s a prestigious pack, as I understand, a pack who promised them financial help.”

“Damn these families who’d sell their kids for money,” Zayne grumbles darkly.

Sawyer nods. “So he wouldn’t go back there willingly, but here’s an idea: could they be they came looking for him? The pack or his family?”

“Isn’t that a little far-fetched?”

“Bee’s ex tried to kidnap her twice, almost killed Kaden in the process, too,” Sawyer says. “He’s behind bars now, but you see why I’m not confident in people’s sanity anymore. Besides which, omegas can be a hot commodity, more so since the legislation stating that you need one to form an official pack. I’ve known parents selling their omega kids to packs for money.”

“You’re fucking kidding me,” Grey mutters.

“I wish I was. I mean, what would you call forcing Casey into this pack in exchange for financial aid?”

“He’s just goods to them. Giving him to this pack would have been a transaction.” Ronin growls deep in his throat. “If those motherfuckers came and carried him away…”
