“That sounded military.”

“I was in the army for a few years.”

“Jesus, Z. Anything else I don’t know about you?”

“Plenty.” He winks at me. “Stick around and I might tell you stories.”

His smile warms me. “Planning on it. Okay, perimeter. You’ve checked around the gym and our apartment. I checked around his apartment.”

“Let’s move down to that small park,” he says, “what’s its name…”

“The one across from the Vagabond Hotel? Is that even considered a hotel? I think you pay the room by the hour.”

“Not going to ask how you know that,” Gigi says with a glare.

I smirk.

“Let’s go,” Zayne says. “We’ll set the park as the center and report back there every fifteen minutes. You two really think he’s living on the street? Ron, what do you think?”

“Possibly. He’d look for a place protected from the wind, a shop entrance, a bench against a garden wall, something of the sort.”

Gigi turns to look at me. “And how would you know about that, Ron?”

Heat races up my neck. “I, uh, did a stint on the streets, years ago. Zayne helped me. Got me a place to sleep and a job. It was winter. I owe him my life.”

“And like I told him, it was my pleasure.” Zayne gives one of his sexy, wolfish grins. “Though I intend to finally collect on that gratefulness, in bed. Hear me, Ron?”

“Is that supposed to be a threat?” I laugh a little. “Because I want you to.”

Gigi squeaks a little, her cheeks turning rosy. “Can I watch?”

“Look at you, you little voyeur.” Zayne’s brows go up and he looks delighted. “Watch and touch and participate, baby. Pretty fucking please.”

I shiver with a fresh wave of lust at the image, then glance out at the busy streets and know that I’d do anything to have my pack, this pack. “Okay guys, focus. Let’s go get our beta.”

We reach the small park, and so far, no sign of Grey. I refuse to acknowledge the knot in my stomach. No matter what Zayne says, how Gigi wants to share in the blame, this is on me.

I should have considered Grey’s feelings.

I should have realized what a bad idea that arrangement was.

I should have acknowledged how I felt about him, about all four of them, from the start, instead of denying it and making such a fucking mess of things.

“Let’s split up,” Zayne says as we come to a halt in front of Vagabond Hotel. “Meet you back here in fifteen. We?—”

My phone starts ringing and buzzing in my back pocket, and I grab it, hoping it’s Grey.

It’s not. It’s Kaden.

“Any news, man?” I say by way of greeting.

“Hey, Ronin. I think we’ve found your man.”

“You have? Where? Is he okay?”

“What is he saying? Did they find him?” Gigi is gripping my arm, eyes wide and full of excitement, and Zayne is watching me intently.
