Looking back at the phone, I open the messaging app.

Nox

You’re there alone? Would you rather stay the night here?

Viviana?

I don’t like the idea of you being alone right now.

Hello?

I’m starting to get worried now. If I’m overstepping some boundaries, just tell me.

Please, just let me know you’re okay.

Viv?

If you don’t answer the phone, I’m coming over there.

That’s it, I’m on my way. You can tell me to fuck off to my face if you don’t want to talk.

I glance over at Nox. “I didn’t mean to worry you. I just needed a break from studying, so I took a shower.”

Nox visibly deflates, stalking over and flinging himself down on to my bed. “Well, get back to studying. I’m here now. You being alone right now really bothers me.”

He looks into his lap, messing with a hole in his jeans. I plop down on the edge of the bed, picking up my sign language book this time. Neither of us says anything after that, and I don’t try to shake him awake when he falls asleep a couple hours later.

Late into the night, I quietly put away my books and slide into the tiny space in the bed next to him, just in case Sandy comes back to the dorm tonight. The moment I lie down, Nox wraps himself around me, tucking his nose into my hair. I just enjoy it while I have it, since I’m sixty percent sure he’ll freak out about this in the morning.

Iwake up warm and comfortable. I’m pressed against the wall while I cuddle my pillow tightly against my chest. Something about that makes me freeze. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that my bed is in the middle of my room and I shouldn’t be able to touch the wall. Maybe it’s that my pillow is breathing against my neck and cuddling me back.

My eyes snap open and I find Viviana fast asleep in my arms. One of her legs is thrown over my hip while her cheek presses against my collar bone. She feels warm and soft against me. It doesn’t pass my notice that she’s so close that all I would have to do is roll my hips up to get the friction I suddenly so desperately want.

A soft sound leaves her as she moves against me. Her arm snakes around my shoulders to hold me tighter to her. I’d give just about anything to be able to wake up like this every morning. Her bed is far from comfortable, but this is the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years.

It’ll just highlight how shitty I usually sleep when I go back to my own bed tonight. Thoughts start running through my mind as I consider how I’ll be able to get her to sleep in my comfortable bed.

I push my nose into her hair and inhale the sweet scent of her shampoo. It smells kind of like strawberries. I almost want to stayhere all day, but the door opens and Sandy walks in. I close my eyes, pretending to be asleep, cursing myself for getting caught in her room. Viviana jerks awake at the sound of the door closing. “Shit. I didn’t know you had company. I can come back later,” her roommate says.

Viviana pulls away from me with a grumble, sitting up in bed. “You’re fine. You’re probably exhausted. Get some sleep. I want to head to the library anyway.” She shakes my shoulder. “Get up, sleeping beauty. I know you’re faking.” I open one eye to glare at her.

She stands and stretches before heading over to grab some clothes. I sit up in the bed and wipe my eyes while Sandy looks from me to Viviana curiously. “I’ve got to get going. I’m sure the guys are wondering where I’ve been. Sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” I stand and start heading for the door.

Viviana stops me, quirking a brow. “It’s no big deal, even if you are a blanket hog. Thanks for coming to check on me. I’ll see you later.”

I hurry from the room, not caring if any of the other Intro to Sociology students see me. I’m so lost in my head that I barely pay attention to the drive home. The guys are all hanging around in the living room when I get back. Sloane takes one look at my rumpled clothes and hair and gives me a sly smirk. “You were out hooking up with some chick, weren’t you?”

I roll my eyes and scoff. “It’s not like that. Viviana was alone in her room last night and then she stopped answering my texts. I went to check on her and fell asleep.”

Walking past all the wide-eyed expressions, I head into the kitchen to pour myself a cup of coffee. “Did you sleep with her?” Sloane asks suddenly, standing behind me.

“Well, yeah, but not how you’re implying. She was studying, and I fell asleep.” I shrug and take a sip of heaven.

“You spent the night in my girlfriend’s bed?” Z asks, storming into the room.

“Not your girlfriend,” Sloane says automatically. When I raise my brows at him, he shrugs. “He hasn’t even asked her out. They’re not official.”
