Doesn’t sound like an apology to me.

Will you apologize to me, then?

For what?

For raising a son who stole my daughter’s heart. It’s an unforgivable sin to any girl dad in the world.

Fine. I’m sorry for raising such a great man that Jimena couldn’t resist him. If you ask me, though, she has excellent taste. Clearly, she takes after her godfather.

I’m sorry for kicking him out and starting a business war with you. I’m sorry for calling your family that has helped ours and stood with us through everything a dynasty of whores. But I’m not sorry for raising my hand to him. He went behind my back instead of coming to me like a man. I would have listened. He owed me this much, Jacob, and we both know it.

Okay.

So scotch and expensive cigars in an hour?

You got it.

I love you, man, and missed you even if I sabotaged your ten-billion-dollar deal the other day.

You did what?

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

“When I’m in his arms, I believe heaven is here on earth.

Except…

There is no danger in heaven, and our relationship brings nothing but destruction to everyone involved.”

Jimena

Jimena

Resting my head against the window, I sip my water before putting it away as Florian tells me, “Let’s have it.” My lips twitch at the annoyance ringing in his tone because I’ve been giving him the silent treatment for the past couple of hours.

I think he’s finally losing his patience.

The man wouldn’t listen to a word I wanted to say and instead dragged me to the airport where he practically shoved me into his private jet and ordered for the pilot to go to his island.

My jaw about hit the floor at this because I had no idea he had one but somehow Florian took my silence as a green light to inform me how Grandpa Atlas gifted it to him on his twenty-fifth birthday.

“You can be angry with me all you want, princess. I won’t apologize for what I’ve done.”

Yeah, I would have chosen him anyway but he made the situation a thousand times worse. Their corporate affairs will turn very personal, and while I should feel more guilty about this…somehow I don’t care.

They are incapable of truly hurting each other and I guess this knowledge should be enough for me to calm down.

Before I can say anything, though, the flight attendant comes and smiles brightly at us. “Mr. Price and Miss Cortez. We’ll be landing shortly, so please fasten your seat belts. Would you like something else to drink?” I shake my head and she leans over me, opening up the shades covering the window, and instantly the sunset’s orange-blue glow greets me, making me blink. “Enjoy the view then. It’s magnificent at this hour.” She winks at me and I nod, shifting closer to the window to do exactly that.

Spacious—or more like, endless—green land greats me located right in the middle of the ocean, and only one thing comes to mind.

Heaven on earth.

I must have said it out loud because Florian explains, “There are only two islands like this in the world. They are identical for whatever reason even though they’re miles away from each other. One belongs to me and another to the Wright family.” My brow furrows because the name sounds familiar but I can’t put a face to it. A chuckle slips past his lips, “Rafael isn’t the greatest of neighbors but you can’t expect much from a moody teenager.”

Realization hits me then.

The Wright twins and their little sister.
