“We found the truth about Cono and Gianney working together. Maybe Gianney would lie to save himself,” I answered, searching my phone for the private investigator we’d used in the past.

“Who are you calling?” Renato challenged.

“Private investigator. There’s more to this story.”

“Story is that Gianney has Nyla in his web, and if she plays you again, I promise she’s dead,” Renato argued.

“Carter gets us to the house,” I say, placing the phone on speaker.

“Vincenzo, glad you called,” Manual said.

“Tell me something good, Manual.”

“I have some news you might not like, and before you chew my head off, the information is factual.”

“Savio and Renato are listening.”

“All right. I looked into Gianney Greco’s relationship to Cono, and it goes back to when he was a child.”

“In what way?”

Manual stated, “He’s a god-uncle to him, and their families have done business for many years.”

“Shit.”

“I’m thinking that when he was a teenager, he found out his father was a big mobster, and he learned of his sister’s lineage.”

“Get to how Nyla fits in the Greco world.”

“Her mother had a brief relationship with Gennaro Greco; as usual, he wanted nothing to do with the baby, and her mother found love with Cono’s brother and got married.”

“Did Nyla spend any time with the Greco family?”

Manual described. “From what I have gathered her mother was still pregnant when she left him, so none of the family even saw the baby.”

“Damn.”

“No type of contact, and now he’s using it as advantage to go against us.”

“As revenge.”

“Nyla's going to be devastated.”

“Cono knows about everything?”

“He’s been in correspondence for years with Greco, making sure he knows what to do once Nyla is told the truth. Cono had a letter drawn up making it look like her mother and stepfather.

“Motherfucker needs to die now,” I fussed, grinding my teeth.

“For now, calm down; working yourself up when you’re about to see her for the night won’t help.”

“Are you saying I should keep it to myself?”

“No, we’re saying wait until you have a moment to gather all the information,” Savio stated.

Renato unlocked the car door, climbing out. “Savio’s got a point. Throwing out accusations will make her shut down.”

“All right, Manual. Send me everything tonight.”
