Irritation at her taunting voice crept up my spine. “Crazy to believe I have to go about threatening you to get you to see the real me.”

“Angelina, know we will be seeing each other soon.” Hanging up the phone, I cast it on the desk.

“Angelina is still lurking around?”

“Everyone has to die.”

“It’s time you learned that giving people the chance to change doesn’t end well for a Calabresi.” Renato watched me pace back and forth.

“Nyla’s birthday is next week I need to get the girls to help me plan something short notice.”

“Call them and keep her distracted so you can focus on finding our enemies.”

“We can start pulling all of his old locations where he’s done business.” Slouching down in my chair, I jumped on my computer and started searching where Greco’s distribution of products used to come from before we took over.

“Savio is going to make some calls,” Renato remarked.

“Can you check out phone records and find Angelina? Living at her old place is out of the question since she knows about the blackmail.”

“I will be in touch.” Renato swiveled around and left my office.

Informing Nyla about Gianney—on top of planning her birthday with Angelina still sniffing around—would put us back in a place we’d moved away from. Having to protect her at all costs meant handling any problems without her getting hurt.

Chapter 20

Nyla

“Nyla, what are we doing here?”

“I need to get some information from Gianney.”

Cassandra poked her lip out, staying behind me as we walked to the location where Gianney wanted me to meet him without Vincenzo. I gripped her hand, then looked down at the address on the paper, and then back up at the empty building.

“This is the place.”

“Do you see anyone?”

“No, let me knock.”

She yanked me back. “Nyla, are you sure about meeting him alone? What if Vincenzo finds out?”

“Cassandra, stop worrying. Vincenzo will understand.”

I raised my hand up to knock and it opened automatically. “Who are you?” A tall figure with long arms asked, with a gun in his hand pointed at our faces.

“Oh, my God!” Cassandra shrieked, gripping tight to my hand.

I pushed her behind me, with my chest poking out.

“Is Gianney here?”

“Marciao chill out.” I heard Gianney’s voice come up to the door.

Marciao probed, “Who is she?”

“No one for you to worry about.” Gianney gestures for us to come inside, shutting the door behind me.

Keeping my eyes on the guy with the shotgun, I was rethinking coming here to talk when Vincenzo told me to stay away from him, even though I knew Gianney had always been a friend during the early days of meeting him and Mark.
