“That’s what a husband is supposed to do for the woman he loves.” I rubbed my hands up her arms, down her back.

Blinking her eyes. “You love me.”

“Yes, which means a big celebration is needed.”

“As long as I have you there.”

I kidded and pulled her close to me gently slapping me on the chest. “Listen before we get too far ahead, I want to talk with you,” I said.

“Okay.”

Hesitating, I sat her on my lap and ran a hand up her thigh, then pushed her hair from her face and admired the dimples in her cheeks.

“I—” My phone blew up, interrupting me.

“Could be about business. Go ahead. I’m going to take a shower and get dinner started.”

“You’re cooking?”

Nyla stood, sauntering to the bathroom. “The food at your parents was fine, but I’m still not completely full.”

“Let me get rid of whoever is calling.” Checking the unknown number, I stood up and walked out of the bedroom.

“Vincenzo?” There was a whisper of fear in the voice.

“Who's asking?”

“Angelina.”

“Angelina, why are you calling me?”

She confessed, “I miss you.”

“We’ve never been more than a fuck buddies. Get it out of your head.” I shut my office door behind me.

Angelina taunted, “Does she know you’re going to be a father?”

“She told me about you trying to ambush her.” I adjusted my tie.

“That girl is blind to what we have, and you know she’s not worth the time. You need someone who understands your world.”

“Angelina, get it out of your head, we are done when I find you.”

Angelina’s chilling voice stabbed me in the chest. “You’re threatening me, Vincenzo? Is that what happened to Viviana Greco?”

I froze at her statement. “Angelina.”

“No, you listen—and clearly—to me.”

There was a knock at my door, and when I pushed it open, Renato stood waiting to enter.

“Nyla will be fine once you divorce her and marry me.”

My jaw slackened. “How would that happen?”

“Draw up the papers and have her sign, then I can promise to get the evidence you and your brothers have been looking for to destroy.”

Hovering at my desk. “Cono contacted you?”
