“Does he know you're here?” Gianney sat on top of his desk, and I stood next to Cassandra.

“Who?”

“Vincenzo, your husband.” Gianney reached down, picking up a cigarette and a lighter, then puffing out smoke.

“I’m not here to talk about my husband.”

Smirking and nodding, he scanned Cassandra with his eyes. “Your friend looks scared.”

I turned to Cassandra. Her eyes stayed glued to the guards in the room.

“Gianney, you texted and left me wondering about my family.”

“Did you find out any more information?”

“Not yet, so tell me the truth.”

“The Greco cartel is well known. I learned about my family’s name when I was younger.”

“How am I connected?”

“Vivianna is our sister. The Calabresis killed our family.”

I stepped closer. Cassandra pulled me back by my arm, but I nudged her hand loose. “How do I know that’s true?”

“Vincenzo told you his brother made the call?” Gianney answered.

Relaxing my shoulders, Gianney wasn't giving me anything concrete. “Tell me the truth or I’m walking out of here and never coming back.”

“Cono is right, you need to get him a seat at Calabresi Holdings and alliance.”

“I have nothing to do with Vincenzo’s businesses.”

“As a wife, you have a perfect setup to get him onboard. We can get the Greco and Sartori families at the head of the alliance.”

“Vincenzo never talks to me about business. I doubt he would even believe me if I canvassed to put Cono in as a voting power.”

“Either he backs you up, or his brothers will have to contend with the other families coming together to take them out.” Gianney lifted a piece of paper off the desk, then extended it to me.

“Is this my mother?”

“With the Greco family when she was pregnant by my father.”

“What else do you have?”

“More pictures and a letter of my father giving you up.”

“Let me see it?”

“Only when I get what I want.”

“If were related then you should want to help me find the truth.”

“Cono is expecting you to hold up your end of the bargain.”

“Vincenzo trusts me now, and I am no longer using him for someone else’s gain.” After whipping around, Cassandra and I marched out, leaving him calling my name. After coming to the door, I yanked it open to a pile of men and Vincenzo standing there, with a scowl on his face.

“Should I be worried?”
