“Very.” Vincenzo extended his hand, and I slipped my palm into his, scanning all the deep frowns on their faces. After opening the door and climbing in next to Renato and Savio, I felt like I was a kid in trouble.

“Cassandra is coming with me.”

“She’s seen too much. After we have a talk, you can contact her.” Vincenzo slammed the door on me.

Cassandra had a worried look in her eyes.

I slammed my hand against the window. “Vincenzo, I am not a child.”

Renato motioned to Gianney’s business. “Are you working for him?”

“I refuse to talk to you unless you tell me what I want to know.”

“Nyla, my brother and I feel Gianney and Cono are using you,” Savio explained.

“Funny. He said the same thing about you and your brothers.”

“In what sense?” Savio squared his shoulders.

“Tell me the truth about Vivanna Greco and how she died.”

“We have plans for your birthday.” Vincenzo placed a hand on top of my thigh and squeezed.

“Keep playing these games, Vincenzo. Gianney’s starting to sound right.”

“Here, since you want to know what my family is trying to keep hidden and protected.” Vincenzo dumped a pile of papers in front of me.

“Where did you get these?”

“A private investigator found out Gianney is using our beef to come back into the alliance.” Vincenzo stood over the bed.

Picking up the files, I see Cono’s name on a few letters between my mother and father.

While covering my mouth, I sat back, disgusted at how Cono played my parents and me for years, lying about the adoption and plotting with the Greco cartel to take down the Calabresis.

“He worked with Greco to take me from my parents when I was a baby.”

“Cono’s dangerous, Nyla.”

I rubbed my temples and lied back on the bed, tears pooling in my eyes. Every picture-perfect moment was a setup to use me as a pawn.

“Gianney will do anything to bring you back into his lies. He doesn’t mean you any good.”

“I hear you.”

“What do you want to do for your birthday?”

“I’m still going out with the girls.” Turning to rise out of bed, I sit at the vanity mirror, checking my foundation and blush.

“The Casino has a room ready for you.”

“Thank you. We will more than likely walk the floor a little and do some gambling.”

“All right, just stick with Carter for the rest of the night.”

Coming up behind me, Vincenzo ran a hand up the back of my neck, pressing a kiss on the top of my head.

“Will you drop by and hang out?”
