“All of my favorites.”

“After, we have the club, right?” Cassandra investigated.

“Yes, and we have a VIP section,” I acknowledge.

Our appetizers appeared, but Vincenzo hadn’t returned. I finished off one glass and poured another.

“Can I get something a little stronger? It’s my birthday!” I laughed, slapping hands with Cassandra.

A two-hour meal with friends and family—plus presents—became the highlight of my night next to dancing in the DJ booth. I dropped my purse and shawl with some of the girls in the VIP section while Cassandra and Rena came with me to dance on the main floor. The guys told us to not get too out-of-hand. For the most part, we stayed together and respected their request. As soon as the song changed, I jumped up to stand next to the DJ to see the crowd really get turnt up for Rihanna.

Popping my fingers, and bending over dancing with Cassandra, we showed out. Ralph came up behind her, holding her close, and I thought he’d started to loosen up with the group as a hold.

“I need to get something to drink. I will be right back,” I said, fanning myself.

“I’m coming with you,” Cassandra replied.

“No, you’re fine. Keep dancing. Won’t take but a second.” After climbing downstairs, I moved through the crowd, then headed to the bar. I felt the sweat dripping down my face. I grabbed a napkin to clean up a little and gestured to the bartender to give me another drink.

“Here’s to the birthday girl.” The bartender passed me my drink. I gave him a thumbs-up and stepped off the stool, rocking my hips left to right. I gulped the rest of my drink, placed it back on the counter, and almost tripped when I felt arms around my waist, catching me.

“You need to be careful.”

Smiling, I turned and dropped the smile form my face and back up from the cocky smile on Gianney's little friend Macario.”

“How did you get in here?”

“Just exploring the club, baby.”

“Yeah right.” I pushed by him, darting from the DJ booth to the VIP area, not seeing Vincenzo or his friends. Stomping down the hall, I approached the bathroom, and figured he might be in his office. Turning around, I headed to the employees only hallway. I slipped a hand up to knock on Vincenzo’s door when I noticed it was partially open. I pressed up against it, listening to multiple voices.

“He dies now.”

“She’s going to want to know.”

“She’s your wife, you explain it to her. When it comes down to it, she's a Calabresi now and loyalty belongs to the family.”

“I get it, Renato; but killing Cono and Gianney isn't easy when we still don’t have the evidence.”

“They’re bluffing.”

“Giving any type of leeway will show our weakness to the alliance.”

“Vincenzo is right. If Gianney has the evidence hidden, we need to have Nyla find it and destroy it,” Savio argued.

“What if she decides to use the evidence on you or blackmail the entire family? Are you willing to get rid of her for the family?” Renato challenged.

“Do you hear yourself?”

“Sonya knows the discussions we’ve made when it pertains to the business. The Calabresi name is to be upheld,” Renato said.

“Calm down. Renato isn’t so quick to agree with killing his wife,” Savio assured us.

“Because you made the choice years ago to protect Mckayla after what she witnessed,” Renato examined.

“I will do it for the family,” Vincenzo responded, agreeing to kill me.

I stumbled back. My stomach felt sick; everything I ate at dinner was starting to come back. I needed to figure out a way to get the evidence before they did.
