“Nothing will happen to me. Cono is finished, and he can’t manipulate me anymore.”

I took in her words and felt she would be safer if she were next to me when I killed him, so I agreed to let her go in—only to see me make sure that he took his last breath.

“Keep the car running,” I told Carter.

Nyla grasped my hand. Most of the neighborhood was inside or gone; the street was pretty quiet. After looking around, I raised my foot, kicked the door, and knocked it off its hinges.

I saw Cono jump in fear and try to run off. After lunging toward him, I shoved him back in his chair.

“Cono,” Nyla called his name.

“Get your fucking hands off me,” Cono growled.

“Cono, where’s the flash drive,” Nyla hissed.

“Fucking slut!” Cono snapped, and I balled my fist and punched him in the face.

“Where is it?!” Nyla screamed, snatched my gun from my holster, and pointed it at his head.

Both of us were caught off-guard by her boldness. “Nyla, give me the gun.” I released Cono, reaching for her hand.

“No, back up, Vincenzo. Cono doesn’t scare me anymore.”

“You think because he married and gave you the Calabresi name that means something?” Cono growled.

“What I know and believe is that we're leaving either way with you dead,” Nyla responded.

Nyla’s stark response sent arousal to my dick. It might have been wrong to want to fuck her after she killed her uncle, but the way she wasn’t scared and was ready to end him after torturing her for years was making me proud.

Squinting his eyes, Cono glanced back at me. “How did you know I had it?”

“Gianney. What made you pull Angelina into your little trick?” Nyla voiced.

“I thought that if you were distracted by Angelina, then I could use her to take him down.”

“Why? I’m your niece.”

Cono held Nyla hostage with guilt. “Nyla, you were never my niece, just a way for me to get ahead.”

“Did you have something to do with my parents’ death?”

“Answer her!” I barked.

“He got in the way,” Cono explained.

“Speak up,” Nyla chided.

“Your mother and my brother learned of what I was doing, and I put a hit out on them. I made it look like an accident.”

“For money, all of it over money,” Nyla muttered.

“Think of what you can do if our family is in the alliance. Forget Chicago; we could go to the highest and make moves with our names in rooms,” Cono examined.

Tears fell down her cheek.

“Sorry,” Nyla murmured to him.

“Nyla, as your uncle you have to understand my choices were to keep the Sartori family from crumbling. Debts had to be paid.”
