They say that revenge is a dish best served cold. But putting him on ice was going to be easier said than done.
Cameron Coleman was my sworn enemy- even if he didn’t know it. Ten years ago, he tore my heart out and stomped on it- completely oblivious to what he’d done.
Since then, I’d gone on to distinguish myself with a career on Wall Street. Commissions on millions of dollars’ worth of accounts gave me the money to make some dramatic changes in myself. But the one thing I couldn’t seem to change was my bad choice in men. Relationships went from bad to worse until I ended up nearly destroying my sanity and my career over a cop, and a married one, no less.
Work put me on a sabbatical, allowing me to work remotely when I could. So, I bought a house back in my hometown trying to get a little peace. I bought an adorable fixer upper. I had the design sense to know what needed to be done, but I was a Wall Street exec, not a DIYer, so I left the work of finding appropriate contractors to my best friend.
The first one through my door was Cameron, looking better than a body had a right to. And the first thing I realized was that he didn’t recognize me- at all.
Peering into those eyes that could melt any woman’s resolve, I instantly hatched a plan to wreak some revenge that would suit me perfectly- I would make him fall in love with me and then kick him to the curb like he had done me all those years ago.
But, as we all know, payback’s a bitch.
