Risking it All

I couldn’t take my eyes off her as soon as she walked through the door.

The room seemed to get quiet and all eyes were on her.
This can’t be my best friend’s kid sister I teased endlessly all those years ago…
Gliding across the room in a dress that hugs every curve.

I have to talk to her…

But it seems everyone is wanting to grab this small town veterinarian’s attention, so I patiently wait my turn..

I’m actually jealous of the ranch hand spinning her across the dance floor.. This is a feeling that’s never existed to me before, so I quickly cut in. Not caring if it was rude or not.

I attempt to lay on my playboy charm that never fails me.
But it’s not working on her…
She seems unfazed by my sly words and handsome face..

There’s this electric pull I feel for her though. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt.. So when she said she was about to head out, I jumped at the chance to walk her to her car for a moment alone.

She continued to scold me, claiming I was treating her like a child. To prove I saw her as the beautiful woman she was, I impulsively kissed her. Backing her up against her car, even surprising myself.

It was the most intense kiss of my life and she responded by gripping my shirt when her knees buckled, so I know she felt it too.

But once I pulled back, there was immediate regret.

I’m not a relationship guy and Bea is a good girl. What the hell was I doing trying to hook-up with my best friend's little sister?

I apologize for my moment of weakness and we parted on what seemed to be good terms..

But can I keep these feelings at bay? This can’t be the start of a forbidden relationship because she made it clear she’s not open to a fling. I’m confident in my decision, but that might be destined to change when danger pops up in our sleepy little town…
