I couldn’t figure out why everyone was treating me so strangely.
It was just supposed to be another normal Monday morning. But when I got to my office, normal quickly turned into something much different.
Sneaky glances, cold shoulders, and suggestive comments that made no sense. My supervisor coming on to me unexpectedly. A last minute summons to meet with my boss.
Then, in the office bathroom, my friend showed me her phone. And I saw my face. Doing shocking things.
But it wasn’t me.
Now I’m unemployed, isolated, and my reputation is in tatters. I can’t go anywhere without being harassed.
No one believes me, not even my family. Except for one friend who put me in contact with Blade and Arrow Security, and I’m desperately hopingthey can help me.
I wanted to protect her from the moment we met.
As soon as I met Charlie, I liked her immediately. And I knew she was telling the truth.
She was trying to stay strong, not just from a series of vicious attacks, but the betrayals of her friends and family. She had every right to be bitter, but she was nothing but kind and sweet.
I can’t stand watching her suffer hit after hit and not be able to comfort her the way I want. To hold Charlie and take away all her pain. To be more than just her bodyguard.
There are so many reasons to keep things platonic. She’s a client. She’s vulnerable. I’m not good enough for her. But my heart has a different idea.
I’ll do anything to protect her. Because whoever’s behind this isn’t content just to ruin Charlie’s career and reputation. Now she’s in danger, too.
And as I’m quickly learning, a virtual attack can still draw blood.
