You know those moments in life when everything seems perfectly aligned? Yeah, this ain’t that moment.
I’m Dario Wallace, a reclusive mountain man on a mission to secure my family’s land before some bureaucrat decides to auction it off to the highest bidder by Christmas.
Simple, right?
When the county lawyer tells me I need a wife to claim my inheritance rights, I’m desperate enough to place a classified ad for a quick and temporary mail order bride. What I get is Judith Mars, a curvy city princess who’s clearly never followed an order in her life and believes she can waltz onto my mountain without submitting to my rules. The exact type of woman I typically send packing.
Judith needs a husband on paper to escape some family drama, and I need a wife to secure my land. Should be a straightforward business arrangement. But nothing about this Christmas-obsessed, infuriatingly beautiful woman is straightforward. As much as I enjoy control, there are always two areas that require my complete attention—my land and my woman. And this little wildcat is testing my patience on both fronts.
She’s in for a rude awakening if she believes I’m going to let her call the shots. That, of course, would’ve been more convincing had I not discovered exactly how responsive she becomes under my firm guidance. I know mixing business with pleasure wasn’t my smartest move, but our contract has a holiday expiration date, and nothing will change that.
I’ll just have to keep her out of my playroom until then, and most definitely out of my heart.
