A human who embraces fate, and the vampire who resists it…

Since the night his best friend was turned into a vampire, tattoo artist Kai has been hiding a deadly secret—one a powerful blood mage would do anything to possess. When he meets the ancient vampire Vidar and knows without a doubt he’s found his soulmate, Kai dares to hope he can finally share the truth he’s carried alone. But with a single glance at the scarred human, Vidar storms away, leaving Kai’s heart in ruins.
Vidar has no time for a male soulmate, especially since he’s only ever desired women. A decade ago, crushed by the weight of immortality and numbed by apathy, he abandoned the vampiric family he once led, and now he’s returned to mend what he broke. It doesn’t matter how tempting Kai is, or how his lavender scent soothes the inner turmoil the Viking vampire can barely hold back.

Fate, however, refuses to be ignored.
When Kai is attacked Vidar can no longer deny the bond between them. Yet can the stubborn vampire surrender to love? And after so much rejection, can Kai risk giving his heart to the one man who’s already broken it?

Two souls bound by destiny must decide if love is worth the risk of being burnt—or face the lethal cost of denial.
