Adaptation has defined Kayla Lamb’s life. She was a star in Division 1 soccer, with an Olympic roster spot and a lucrative professional contract looming. Then she busted her knee and had to pivot. She made a splash at her investment firm from day one. Then a professional hiccup brought it all crashing down, and she had to pivot. She found the love of her life and got her storybook proposal. Then out of the blue, Skye called it off. But a year later, when Skye announces her impending wedding to someone else, Kayla decides she’s tired of pivoting.

It was a moment of pure insanity, pitching the idea of a double wedding in paradise—especially the part where she lied to Skye about her best friend Mack being her soon-to-be wife. But Kayla knows she can win Skye back before she says “I do” to someone else. All she needs is a little time and proximity to remind her they’re destined to be together forever.
The only problem is, once the four of them arrive at Rainbow Sands resort for a week of fun in the sun before the big wedding night, Kayla finds it hard to convince Skye she doesn’t actually love the bombshell doctor on her arm. Equally shocking is how, even as her time dwindles, Kayla finds herself drawn more to her fake relationship than the one she was so sure was real.

Maybe she was wrong all along. Maybe this time she’ll pivot right into her happily ever after.
