Jarran

He’s an imprisoned intergalactic supercriminal with amnesia. She’s a doctor sent to help him recall his past crimes so he can stand trial. They have no business falling in love, but fate makes her own business, and rarely listens to reason.

Dr. Evie Carr is a neurologist and psychologist sent to see if her new patient’s memories of his past as the notorious Pella Rin can be unearthed. She doesn’t expect her new, high-profile patient to be a gentle, kind Virilian male who farms in the agricultural bay of the ship he’s imprisoned in. Working with Jarran every day, she ignores the growing forbidden attraction simmering between them. When he begins to remember snippets of his past, Evie learns that the story of Pella Rin is far more complicated than that of a man who turned evil.

Jarran Bando can barely form words when he meets Evie. He is happy and at peace tending the acres of crops, but seeing her is like pure sunlight cutting through fog. Soon, she is the brightest part of his day. Even though he knows his love for her will always be one-sided, he works hard to speak better and remember what he can of his past. But it comes at a cost. As memories seep back, he’s devastated to learn the atrocities committed by this past version of him. He doesn’t remember being Pella Rin, but begins to understand that the villain still lies beneath the surface of his mind.

When the “Sifters,” the criminal group he used to lead, return for him, Jarran must fight not only for Evie’s life and safety, but also for control of his own mind. For just as Jarran is learning who he is, Pella Rin is fighting to regain control of the empire that terrorized the galaxy.

This is Book 6 of the Virilian Mail Order Mates series (finally). It can be read alone with no cliffhangers and no cheating. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and always a happy ending.
