One of them thinks she isn’t enough. The other thinks she’s too much. Neither of them has ever been brave enough to say the honest thing out loud…

Charlotte Davenport built an empire on disciple and control, and at thirty-six, she isn’t about to let anything as inconvenient as feelings undo it. But her twin’s wedding means a season of dress fittings, champangne toasts, and entirely too much time around the ex-fiancée she would rather erase from memory. But when her well-meaning family starts asking who she’s bringing, Charlotte does the unthinkable: she gets herself a girlfriend.

Fake and uncomplicated, obviously.

Ali McCarthy doesn’t stay anywhere long. Six cities, ten years, one cat, and zero regrets. Then she lands behind the counter of a Boston coffee shop, where a woman with an enviable wardrobe orders the same thing four mornings a week. Six months of doodles on coffee cups. Six months of saving the blueberry bagels. So when the razor-sharp CEO finally asks her something other than how her morning is going, Ali says yes without consulting common sense. Everything goes according to plan until Ali discovers the woman beneath all that polished control and for the first time in a decade, walking away might be the hardest thing she’ll ever have to do.
