It had taken years to plan this. Years of our lives were dedicated to making sure this went well and lives were at stake if this fucked up.
“They are in. We just gotta wait.” Blake said through the headset as I heard him typing.
I watched the screen, seeing the silent alarm go off.
“Alarm triggered. Ten minutes on the clock.” I said and everyone rushed into action. I watched, my knee bouncing with nerves when I saw a car appear in the private entrance.
“Shit. We have company.” I said as I glanced at the screen, seeing more cars show up. When I saw who got out of the car, I realized what was happening.
“FUCK! COPS! Someone must have tipped them off. ABORT!” I shouted as Blake shouted through the coms to the team on the ground.
I watched the chaos ensue on the screen, feeling helpless to stop them as the cops rushed in and began tackling everyone.
Years of our lives wasted in a matter of minutes.
I heard the click of a gun being cocked and the cool metal of the barrel pressed against my forehead.
“Who are you talking to?” Katerina said softly and I turned slowly, to see her eyes full of rage, the other three men standing behind her.
“Kat…” I started and she pressed the gun to my forehead.
“Choose your next words carefully, Riley. Because I won’t hesitate to pull this trigger if you have put me and these men in danger.” She said and I sighed.
I knew I should have said something sooner.
“This isn’t what you think. It has nothing to do with you.” I said as Alexsei came over to the computer and clicked around on the keyboard.
“Is that OceanWorld?” He asked as he looked at me and I nodded.
“Yeah. I am part of a team who is trying to save the dolphins. A team that just got arrested.” I added and they all stared at me like I had grown another head.
“Save the dolphins?” Katerina repeated and I sighed as she slowly lowered the gun.
“Yeah. We were trying to free them.” I said and Hamish chuckled.
“You mean like Free Willy?” He asked and I smirked.
“Yeah. Like that.” I replied as Katerina began speaking in Russian.
“Love, as much as I love hearing you mutter in Russian, could you translate for us idiots?” Hamish said with a pointed look at me.
“Do any of you have any more fucking hidden secrets that are going to come out? Because I am going to shoot the next person in the leg if that is the case.” She said with a snarl, and they all shook their heads before looking at me.
“I swear, this is the only secret I have, and I kept meaning to tell you, it just wasn’t exactly a topic of conversation I knew how to bring up amongst everything else,” I said and she pointed to the door.
“Out. Now. We will sit at the dinner table like a proper fucking family, and everyone will get their little secrets they don’t think are secrets out on the table.” She snapped before storming out.
“I’m going to call you Willy from now on, I hope you know that,” Hamish said with a grin, and I groaned.
