“Really? You pulled a knife in this neighborhood. Look at how many people are out in their yards.” Leo said with a nod.

“I don’t care. She was going to falsify claims against Hamish that would ruin his life if he didn’t do what she wanted. I simply showed her what would happen if she did.” I said with a shrug.

“I thought you wanted to keep this house and this part of your life separate from the world you are in?” Leo asked warily as he looked over my shoulder.

“I changed my mind. This isn’t me. I’ll buy the one that came up for sale near the Mendez house.” I said as I felt Hamish’s hand on my lower back.

“You are fucking psychotic, you know that?” He whispered and I turned to rebut when he grinned.

“And I fucking love it.” He added before he kissed me.

Forty eight

Leo

Iwalked into the gym with a sense of unease.

I had left Katerina and Hamish at Riley’s café, needing to stop in and check on how things were running here before we made our trip to see Victor.

Tamika was at the front desk and when she looked up, she smiled but it wasn’t a kind one.

“Look what the cat dragged in.” She said sweetly and I sighed.

“Tamika. I’m here to look over the paperwork and make sure everything is running smoothly.” I said as I nodded to a few regulars.

“You think I would let Daddy’s investment go under?” She said with a smirk and I ignored her as I walked past the desk to my office.

“I’ll be in my office for a few hours,” I muttered and she grabbed my arm.

I stopped, looking at her hand on me before slowly looking up at her, wanting to rip that hand off me but I didn’t want to cause a scene.

“You should call him. He has been looking for you.” She whispered and I yanked my arm out of her grip.

“Don’t touch me again.” I snarled and she leaned back with a pout.

“Or what? That little girlfriend of yours will get upset?” She rolled her eyes and I sighed.

“Something like that.” I muttered before I walked away.

If she hadn’t figured out who Katerina was by now, I wasn’t about to tell her and give her more ammo to use against me or Rina.

I shut my office door and turned on the computer, getting to work.

I rubbed the back of my neck and stretched, glancing at the time.

Fuck. I was later than I thought.

I sent a quick text to Katerina that I was finishing up now and shut down the computer, grabbing the paperwork I printed to take in to my accountant.

I hadn’t told Rina yet, but I was planning on selling. I made the decision on the drive back, that I wanted out.

I loved the gym, but I could start over. I wanted a clean break, and I wanted nothing to stand in between me and Katerina now.

The gym was profitable, more than profitable and this month had been one of the best this year. It could be better if I spent more time on marketing, but it was doing well enough to entice someone to buy.

If I sold, I could pay off Vinnie a good chunk of the debt owed and a few more fights should clear me completely.

The gym was mostly empty now as I walked out to my car. The sun was low in the sky and I knew Katerina would be annoyed and impatiently wanting to get to Vinnie.
