I had to play this safe and make sure I stayed as neutral as possible. I was no good to Katerina dead or imprisoned.

We piled out of the van and I stayed at the rear, waiting and observing what everyone else did as they silently went to the room.

How they knew exactly where she was, was still a mystery to me and one I had every intention of solving.

The lead man kicked open the door and I rushed in, pausing when I saw Katerina.

She jumped to her feet and I looked over the filthy clothes she wore, the jeans she always wore when on a mission were covered in blood.

Blood that looked like it came from a place I didn’t want to acknowledge.

She fought with everything she had as they rushed her and I met Mikhail's eyes as my men restrained him.

I silently asked the question as I looked between her and him and his mouth thinned in a grim line.

“What the fuck is wrong with her? Why is she covered in so much blood?” One of the men said with a grin.

“Are you on shark week, whore? Just another bit of proof that you are unfit for the job.” He said with a laugh and slapped her face when she spat at him.

I cataloged his face to my memory. I would take his hand.

“Miscarriage,” Mikhail whispered loud enough for me to hear, and shock exploded through me as I looked at her, then fury as they continued to throw her around, pinning her to the ground and tying her hands behind her back.

I glanced at my men who looked wary now as I approached Mikhail, every fiber of my being vibrating with the need to kill these men for laying a hand on her, but I couldn’t.

Not yet.

I had to be with them. I had to follow, and I also had to keep Mikhail safe. I knew they would kill him.

I nodded at my men as I stepped behind Mikhail, the other's attention still on Katerina as they laughed and spat insults at her.

Wrapping my arm around his neck, I leaned into his ear.

“Caleb’s church. You need to get there after this.” I said as I slipped a device into his pocket.

“I have a tracker on me, and I’ve given it to you. Find us. Bring a big team. Sorry for this.” I added as I squeezed the pressure points, feeling his body go slack,

“What the fuck did you just do?” The guy in charge snarled and I shrugged as I dropped Mikhail to the ground, hoping I didn’t hurt him too much or I would have to deal with his tiny wife.

“We didn’t need him,” I said simply, hoping that they wouldn’t look too closely.

“We should go now. Mikhail was smart enough to have someone coming.” I added and the guy grabbed Katerina by the hair, yanking her up.

“Let’s go bitch. You better not bleed all over my seats.” He added and she head butt him.

He howled in pain, and I hid my smile, proud of my woman for breaking his nose.

He went to punch her, and I grabbed his arm, squeezing firmly.

“We need her in one piece so she can communicate with Konstantin,” I said and he glared.

“You take her.” He said as he tossed her at me and I wrapped my arms around her, clenching my jaw to stop myself from kissing her.

As we filed out, I gently lifted her down the stairs, putting her ear in line with my lips.

“I’ve got you,Pchelka,” I whispered and she inhaled a ragged breath, nodding once.

I sat her on the other side of my body in the van, putting her as far away from the men as possible and when she subtly leaned into me, I knew she was hurt and suffering.
