"I should draw out your death, make it painful but I don't want to keep you alive any longer than you deserve," I whispered as I stabbed him in the stomach.

"As payment for what you took from me," I said before I began to stab him over and over, rage and tears blinding me as I let every bit of pain and fear I had felt these past years fuel me.

When hands gently gripped my shoulders, I screamed in rage, spinning to find Alexsei looking grim.

"He is dead,Pchelka. You can stop now." He said softly, taking the knife from my hand. I looked down at the bloody mess that was Konstantin, numbness settling inside me as we all stood in silence.

“So, who was in the helicopter?” Benjamin asked, breaking the silence as he began to undo his bulletproof vest.

I looked at him, something dark settling over me as I whispered.

“My mother.”

Katerina

Iwoke up sandwiched between Leo and Riley on the other side, my heart full as I looked at two of the men who had cracked me open.

“Sweetheart. How are you feeling?” Leo said softly as he opened his eyes.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you,” I said and he smiled.

“I was already awake, listening to you breathing as a reminder to myself that you are still here with us.” He said and I wiped away the tears that threatened to spill over.

“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you, Katerina.” He whispered, pulling me to his chest and kissing my head.

“It’s not your fault, Leo. It’s mine. I put myself in danger. I’m the one who doesn’t deserve…” He covered my mouth with his hand gently.

“Stop. Don’t you dare utter another word. This isn’t your fault. It just wasn’t meant to be right now but that doesn’t mean itwon’t happen again.” He said with a smile, and I felt Riley press a kiss to my shoulder.

“As long as you are safe, then everything is okay. But I need you to humor me and still see the doctor, okay?” Riley said from behind me and I rolled over to look at him.

“I’m okay, Riley.” I started and he gave me the look that both made me feel giddy and loved all at once.

“Okay,” I said with a sigh of defeat when the door opened and Alexsei appeared, my phone in hand.

“Phone call. From Moscow.” He added and I sat up, nervous as I reached for the phone.

“Hello?” I said as I heard masculine laughter.

“Cousin. It would seem you took care of a few problems for me.” Nikolai said.

“Hello, Nikolai. I wondered when I would hear from you. You kept me waiting a long time.” I said, not bothering to hide my annoyance.

“I was a little busy trying to clean house. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t paying attention to what you were doing. I had my doubts in the beginning, but you surprised me and others. You have my full support.” He added and I let out a sigh of relief.

“I would say thank you, but I am a little pissed at you right now,” I said with frustration, and he chuckled.

“That is understandable. I am putting the word out that you have the full support of Moscow and to go against you now, is to go against us too. I still have a little more cleaning to do but once I am done, I will come for a visit, yes?” He said and I winced.

“Sure. You are welcome any time in my house.” I said before we said our goodbyes.

“So, you have his support?” Alexsei asked and I nodded.

“Yeah. This mess should be taken care of now and I will just need to weed out anyone who doesn’t want to fall in line andwe still have Egor to hunt down and find.” I said, knowing he wouldn’t get far without Moscow’s support now.

Hamish came in with a sour look on his face.
