“You didn’t think to call your bodyguard but you called Riley?” He said as he looked over my shoulder and gripped my arms.

“I called her and she hung up on me so I came over,” Riley said defensively as I winced and let out a grunt as Leo’s hand squeezed my injured arm.

“Let go of her arm, man. She is in pain.” Riley snapped and Leo instantly let me go, his eyes narrowing.

“What happened?” He said and I shrugged.

“Someone broke in. I shot them, they shot me, they stole something and left.” I said and Leo stared at me, his chest rising and falling slowly and that was when I noticed his jacket was zipped down enough to peak his bare chest beneath.

“Let me see your arm.” He said and I narrowed my eyes at him.

“I’m fine.” I said and he looked over my shoulder at Riley.

“She said it was a graze. Stitched it herself.” Riley said and I looked at him over my shoulder.

“Snitch,” I whispered and Riley grinned but it didn’t meet his eyes.

“Let. Me. See.” Leo said softly and I sighed, seeing Riley was going to be no help. They had obviously decided to form some kind of alliance in the few minutes Leo had been here.

I shrugged my arm out of the jumper and showed Leo the bullet wound. His eyes hardened and his fingers lightly brushed my skin.

“Who did this?” He whispered.

“I don’t know. I didn’t stop to ask their names when we were shooting each other.” I snapped sarcastically and Leo’s mouth thinned into a hard line.

“You can’t stay here. The house is easily accessed with that broken glass door.” He said as I put my arm back into my jumper.

“I’m fine. They won’t come back.” I turned away and Leo grabbed my other arm, holding me firmly.

“No, Katerina. You employed me to do a job so I am doing my job and that is telling you that you cannot stay here. If they came once while you were here, they will do it again and next time bring more people.” He said and I sighed.

“I don’t feel like booking a hotel room and my other homes are too far away from here,” I said. Leo glanced at Riley, his jaw clenching.

“Then stay at my place.” He said and I raised my eyebrows at him.

“Are you serious? I can’t stay at your house.” I said and Leo shrugged.

“Why not? No one knows who I am and I have good security. Plus I am not far from your main base of operation. I have plentyof room.” He added and Riley put his hand on the small of my back.

“That sounds like a good idea, Kat. I don’t know exactly what went down here tonight but from what you told me, it would seem that they have a personal hit out on you and it would be best to go somewhere they can’t find you.” He said and I sighed.

“Fine. But only until I get my door repaired. I’ll go pack a few things.” I said with annoyance.

But as I grabbed my bag and glanced at the photo of Yuri on my nightstand, a warmth bloomed in my chest.

It had been a long time since anyone had cared about me and it was both terrifying and amazing at the same time.

For the first time in a long time, I felt the giddiness of butterflies and a tingling warmth in my body at the possibility of something more.

I just didn’t know who it was with. I glanced at Leo and Riley who were talking softly, nodding in agreement about something.

Two men who obviously cared and that was what scared me more than my enemies.

Iwarily drove home after pulling an all nighter in the office. I wanted to be prepared for Tommy’s bail, knowing this was going to be used against him to try and put him away.
