“Tommy. I need a favor. Yeah. All the boys. I’ll send you an address and a photo. We need to find someone.” He said before he hung up.

“What are you doing? Who are you calling?” I asked as the desperation began to rise.

“Calling in a search party.” He said as he sent the message.

“Who was that? Who are you really, Hamish?” I asked warily. Was he the reason this happened?

“That was my brother who is bringing with him the entire crew of Satan’s Serpents.” He said and the security guard whistled.

“You an associate?” He asked and I frowned. What the hell were Satan’s Serpents?

“Sort of. I’m legacy.” He said, confusing me more.

“Right. You need to get to her house in case she goes there. I’m going to meet up with my brother at the crash site…” He started and I cut him off. I didn’t quite trust him yet.

“No. I’m going with you and if you try and stop me, I’ll just follow you.” I didn’t say the words that I didn’t trust him, but I saw the recognition in his eyes.

“You can trust me, Riley. I don’t want to see any harm come to her. I haven’t lied about how I feel.” He said quietly and I glared at him.

“Forgive me if I don’t believe you. This seems like an awfully big coincidence that this happens the night she brings you.” I said and he sighed.

“Fine. I’ll get my brother to send someone to her place. We need to tell Leo.” He said and the guard looked at him.

“I’ll get the message to him and where you are going.” He said.

“Thanks, Craig. Right. Let’s go.” Hamish said as he started walking toward the rear car park.

I followed him, shaking with adrenaline and fear.

“She will be okay. The head of the Bratva doesn’t go down so easily,” Hamish said softly, but I heard the worry in his voice.

I didn’t say anything as I got into his car. When we found her, I was going to chain her to my side and never let her go.

I just hoped we would find her in time.

Istared down at Katerina sleeping soundly on my bed. I had done my best to clean her up and stitch the wounds, but I wasn’t an expert.

Seeing her on my doorstep was the last thing I expected and yet it also told me everything I needed to know about her situation… She didn’t have anyone in her life she could trust.

I can’t say I was surprised, most of the men had been loyal to Ivan and the ones who weren’t were sexist pigs who would rather betray everything that made the Bratva what it was before they followed a woman.

She had barely stirred in the hours since arriving, enough for me to get her blood-soaked clothes off her and into something of mine to sleep in and take some painkillers and water.

I sat in a chair across from the bed with a glass of scotch, wiping my hand over my face as I looked her over, watching the rise and fall of her chest as she sighed in her sleep.

We were enemies, at least that was how most people would see it on the outside but that wasn’t quite the truth.

I made a decision the minute I knew Ivan was dead and that decision had been a hard one but necessary.

Our families were on opposite sides of this internal war, but things went deeper than that and the secrets I held were slowly eating away at me.

Sighing, I glanced at my phone and the message that had come through from my contact in Moscow.

Unknown: The hit is out. They have her. The timeline is being moved forward. Talk of a takeover is growing. I found the target and I am preparing to engage to confirm. Be aware that they sent a package to your location with Egor.
