The memories of last night enveloped me like a fever dream as morning light filtered into the room. Natalia's warm body was curled trustingly against my side, her light brown hair fanned out across the pillows. I almost couldn't believe the passion we had shared.

"Good morning," I said softly.

"It's nearly noon...I should've been back home hours ago!" she said frantically as she scrambled to gather her clothes. "If my family realizes I'm gone..."
My gut clenched anxiously. I had been so consumed with Natalia, I'd lost all track of time. Now she was in serious jeopardy if her clan discovered how she'd spent the night.
"I'll drive you back right away," I said, dressing hastily.
Natalia bit her lip. "No, take me somewhere close but not right to the estate. If anyone spots me getting out of your car..."
She didn't need to finish. The risk was too great. I nodded grimly - I had been careless with her safety already. Dropping her a discreet distance away was wise.
We drove in tense silence to a street adjacent to the gated estate. As I pulled over, Natalia turned to me desperately.
"I'm so sorry for dragging you into this mess, Leonardo. I never meant to put you in danger."
