“Yes, I believe he is a part of this. He forced his way into your sister's life, no matter how many times Ana tried to tell him she wasn’t interested. He kept forcing it until something changed her mind and she agreed.” He looks at me, and I know what changed her mind. She thought I wasn’t interested in her. “And he was always asking me about Maya,” he continues.

“Me, too,” Ana says in a quiet voice. “Daddy, he mentioned a man only by Sir that called and told him what to do.”

“Bloody hell!” Duncan and I say at the same time.

Both our girls are the bull’s-eye for some freak.

“Wait… Sir?” Maya asks just as Derek and Greg start cussing too.

“Yes. Sir,” Ana replies in confusion.

“My stalker calls himself Sir.”

Quiet hits the room and has me thinking through what this all means. Jonathan works for Maya's, and her mother’s, stalker. The same man that set Carl onto Maya. The man that sends Maya flowers to this day.

“I have the laptops ready,” Timothy interrupts the quiet.

“Wait, if we know this is why the attorney is calling me, why do I need to call him? Also, why call me now?” Maya asks James.

“Your mum arranged for you to receive your inheritance on your twenty-fifth birthday, which is only a week away.”

“This can't be all about money, why kill Mum?” Duncan asks.

“My guess, it's someone from Cara's past that cared about her. They didn't get dangerous until she got with Yoseph, correct?” Greg interjects. “Money is powerful, desire to control is even more powerful. If this is truly someone from her past and he couldn't control her, he would go after Maya, as his desire to control would manifest greater after her loss. Plus, Maya’s almost the spitting image of her mother.”

“I agree. Cara was very popular, but when she met Yoseph, she was devoted to only him.”

“So someone loved my mother so much they killed her and Isabella?”

“I actually think your mother's death was an accident. The reports state your father was killed with a through and through, back to front. Your mother was killed with a projectile lodged in her chest. The reports state they were found holding each other. My investigator thinks they were embracing when the bomb went off while a…” He pauses, and all of us turn to look at him.

“What? What are you not saying, James? Please tell me,” Maya begs.

“They were shot by a sniper. The bullet traveled through him and into your mother. I'm sorry, Maya.” He reaches for her, and she stands and walks into his embrace.

“I'll find this person and show them how a real sniper kills. Do you have any leads?” The Maya I know surfaces. She’s hardened, sharp and ready to do anything. She has no fear.

“I had my suspicions, but I don't know anymore. You still need to call the attorney. There could be more.”

“Okay. You are all…my family…I want you here with me.” She looks at us, and everyone nods at her.

“We’ll call your London solicitor to get the contact information for the US attorney. If I signal, you need to cut the line. If I think it's too close, I'll cut it myself. Got it? We might not be able to reach the solicitor right now because it’s after six in the evening there,” Timothy directs Maya.

“Okay, let's do this.”

“Flemish, Greene, and Postior, how can I help you?” A female voice comes across the speakers.

“Yes, Maya Aaron for Mr. Flemish.”

“Ms. Aaron, Mr. Flemish has been expecting your call. Can I get a return number in case you're disconnected?”

Sly Jonathan must have several people on his payroll if this girl is trying to get contact information.

“No, I'll call back if we are disconnected.”

“Yes, ma'am. One moment please.” Hold music filters through the speakers as Maya is transferred to her attorney.

“Ms. Aaron, this is a surprise.” A male voice sounding hurried comes across the line.
