“I guess I need to call this attorney in the United States?”

“Well, yes, but I informed Mr. Williams in my email that we could do this via email.”

“No, sir, your email said only via phone or in person,” Greg interjects.

“Well darn, that isn't what I told my assistant to write. I'll take care of her. Ms. Aaron, the number you need to call is 617-555-5555 and ask for Mr. Townsend. Please set up a new email address and send me the information. I'll only contact you or Mr. Williams with a password within the email if you like.”

“What password, Mr. Flemish?”

“How about what your gift was to Ms. Preston at Christmas, that I embarrassed myself buying,” he laughs. She and Ana laugh too.

“That's perfect. Thank you, Mr. Flemish, we'll speak again soon. Goodbye.”

“Goodbye, ma'am.” Maya signals Timothy to cut the connection.

“Okay, give me a second to run a back trace and re-secure the line, then we'll call the attorney.”

“Thank you, Timothy. Duncan that's a Boston phone number. I thought my mom would have an attorney in DC.”

“No, she found one in Boston to keep it away from your father,” James says.

“How did you find the attorney, Dad?” Duncan asks

“Well, Uncle Marcus helped in the beginning, but I made Cara keep it quiet after that as I had my suspicions about Marcus. He always mooned over her, but after she was killed, he took Maya in and tried to help me with her.”

“Although… He did try to push Derek and me away several times,” Greg states angrily. “I've never trusted him.”

“Wait, Uncle Marcus is the one who introduced me to Jonathan,” Ana says.

“And me to Lawrence,” Maya chimes in.

“Yes, but I verified and double-checked everything, it isn't him. Why would he kill his own sister? He also had an airtight alibi.”

“Like I said before, power to control someone is very potent,” Greg replies. I nod at him, I've wondered about Marcus myself.

“True,” both girls say. I've sat my angel next to me but have kept my arm around her. Helen walks in and announces dinner will be ready to serve in half an hour.

“Oh, Helen, I wanted to cook,” Ana says.

“I figured you needed your rest, lassie. I made several of the pheasants Mr. Timothy and Mr. Ian have provided lately.”

“Sounds good, we should be ready by then.”

I look down at my angel and realize today has been more stressful than I wanted on her, we haven't even discussed exit strategies for Mum, or the article.

“How about we make this call, have dinner, and call it a night? Tomorrow we can discuss the other topics. All of us need to process these new developments. Greg, how long are you staying?”

“I was hoping to stay for a few weeks. I took some leave, told the Service I was heading back to the States to finish closing on the house there.”

“Okay ready, I'll dial the number now, Maya. Remember to try to keep it brief, and I'll be watching carefully from this laptop. We had a trace started with the last call. Jonathan has a mole in your attorney’s office.”

“Bloody hell, we'll keep my sister and my girl safe. I'll kill that bloody wanker if he doesn't stop this bullshit.” Duncan fumes.

“I agree, Big Guy, but me first with Jonathan,” I say as I squeeze Ana to me. The laptop connects the call again.

“Goldstein and Townsend Law, how may I direct your call?”

“Mr. Townsend, please,” Maya says, I can see her patience wearing thin. She doesn't give her name this time I notice.
