I want to tell him, but I'm still not sure of his feelings. Every day he shows me he cares, but I'm so scared. The last couple of weeks have been blissful, we’ve found a comfortable rhythm. I don’t want to change that if he isn’t there yet. He hugs me tightly from behind, his lips drop to where my shoulder and neck meet. There are times after we've made love that I see everything in his eyes.

“I'm not done.” I feel him moving behind me and go to turn, but he stays me with his other hand. “I want to give you everything, to fix the pain he put you through, and to heal every wound. I saw this when I bought your necklace, and I knew you needed it too.”

I look down to see another box in his hand. I carefully lift the lid and see the delicate angel wing bracelet. My eyes burn, and my nose tickles, I can feel the tears starting.

“I was injured when I was over there. It's the scar on my chest you never ask about. I know you know because Duncan told you about Christopher. When the helo lifted me from the ground, I felt your arms around me. I felt the wings of an angel wrap around me and I knew that I would survive. Even when you weren’t there, you were. I would give my life for my team, but my heart beats for you and always has.”

He puts the bracelet around my wrist, and I turn to look at him. I know we are both struggling to say the words, but this means so much more to me.

“Joshua, you’ve been my refuge too. I would think of that day and survive every beating and scar. I will always be your angel.”

He kisses me gently and pulls away to drop his forehead to mine. I'm about to tell him how I feel when his phone goes off, interrupting what I want to say. He pulls back and takes a look at the display.

Since Maya turned twenty-five we’ve spoken with Mr. Townsend, who's now in Ireland, he's waiting to do the paperwork until after my birthday. Today is that day. I'm nervous to find out what information is in the safety deposit boxes. I know I have been worrying more and more because I've started having severe headaches the last couple of days. I’m trying to hide them from everyone, but today's is much worse. With Joshua distracted, I rub my temples, trying to relieve the pain.

We walk downstairs, and I grab my purse so we can leave. “Who is going with us today?” I ask. Joshua is always so careful when we leave the property. He’s also been noticeably quiet since his confession.

“Duncan, Maya, and Ian are going with us.”

“Why all three of them?” I look at him and see his tell, he’s fidgeting. “What's happened?”

“Angel, please, I don't want to worry or stress you.”

“It stresses me more when you don't tell me.”

“Okay. Timothy's located a way to contact Mr. Smith. I'll be calling him in the next few days. The second tail on my mother has been pushing the limits, getting too close. We haven’t received any news from Raul, and I'm beginning to worry that Nathan spotted him. I just need to be cautious with you. I need to protect you.”

“Now, was that so bad?” I smile at him.

He walks over to me and kisses me. As usual, his kiss is so thorough and all-consuming. My head starts to swim, I want him.

“I want to carry you upstairs and kiss you all over, Angel. Seeing all this cleavage has given me ideas of you naked with just my necklace and bracelet on you.” His finger trails between my breasts, I tip my head back, opening my mouth to sigh with desire.

“Okay. I want you too.” I giggle at him.

“Angel, I love how much you want me, but we need to go to this appointment.” He kisses me again as the doorbell rings. Joshua pulls away to look at the security screen. It is one of the gate guards.

“Hello.” Joshua opens the door. The guard has several packages.

“Hello, sir, these are for the missus. I checked them, and they appear to be gifts from Mr. Lopez.”

“What the bugger! Okay, bring them in.”

I look at the dozens of packages. What’s Raul done? He doesn’t know that Joshua can get jealous. Of course, he is nothing like Duncan. Just then, Maya, Duncan, and Ian walk in.

“What's all this, Bossman?” Ian asks.

“It appears Raul is trying to win my girl's hand, they're all gifts from him to her.”

“Oh stop, Joshua, they are probably gifts for Isabella.” I pick up a box, open it, and find a perfect little Christmas outfit with matching stripped green and white tights. It's adorable. In the bottom of the box is the micro SD card from my old phone.

“Joshua! It's the evidence!” He pulls out his phone.

“Timothy, Raul sent you and Ana gifts, come open them, we need to head to her appointment.”

“Ana, this one has a birthday card on it. Open it next.” Maya hands me a medium sized box with a card on top. I take it, open the card, and read it aloud.

“Ana, Happy birthday. I know Joshua will get jealous, but I think of you as a little sister, so tell him to grow up. Since you and Maya have come into our lives, you've given all of us men a reason to be better. Her…hermana pe…peq…pequeña, always remember I'm here for you and will protect you with my life. This is for your protection. Please have Joshua and Maya show you how to use it. Happy Birthday, mi hermana pequeña. Raul. PS the rest of the things are for my niece.”
