“No! I won’t lose them! Do something, anything. Save her! I love her,” I yell at the doctor.

“Josh, you need to leave so I can save her, trust me.” I know that voice, but how? I look at her. She hands me the jewelry the nurse gave her. Something in Dr. Parker's face looks so familiar.

“No, I won't leave. Please don't let her die. I need her.”

“Nurse, come here,” Dr. Parker whispers something to the nurse who then leaves. Maya and Ian enter the room a moment later.

“Come on, Joshua, let's go wait with Duncan. You can pace with him,” Maya says as she steps up to me. I hold up the jewelry and look at it and then to Ana.

“Josh, you need to leave now, we need to prep them for surgery. I swear I will do everything I can to save them both. Please go with them.”

“No, I can't leave her. I promised. I can’t leave them.”

“Ian, get him out of here now!” Dr. Parker orders him. Ian pushes past Maya to stand in front of me.

“Yes, Jennifer,” Ian says.

Wait. Jennifer? My head whips to Dr. Parker, she nods her head, and that's the only distraction Ian needed. I know what’s coming and don't fight him. I close my eyes because this is the only way I will leave. He punches me in the face. I drop, just like my world, as more alarms go off and her body seizes again.

I come to in the waiting room.

Ian looks at me. “Sorry, Bossman.” I look at my hand with her jewelry still held in my palm. I put them into my pocket and look at him.

“I understand. The only way I was going to leave there was under force. Any news?”

“No. You 'ave only been out a short while. She started having another seizure, and they were working on her.”

“Shit! Jennifer, really? Why didn't you tell us?”

“Yes, sir.” He doesn't say more, and I know he won't.

“Wait, did you say Jennifer? As in Ian's Jennifer?” Duncan asks, looking as shocked as I felt.

“Yes, I did. It appears that Dr. Parker is Jennifer,” I reply.

“Enough, both of you. I don't want to discuss it. She obviously has remarried and had some work done. She is, as always, a non-discussion. Understand?” Ian growls out.

“Who is Jennifer?” Maya asks.

“Ian's wife,” Duncan supplies.

“Ex-wife. I signed those bloody papers two years ago.”

“Ian was married? Never.” Maya looks shocked.

“I said this is not a subject for discussion, Maya.”

“Okay, enough. Timothy, what did you learn?” He and James must have arrived when I was out cold.

“About Dr. Parker? I gave you all the information I had on her already.”

“No, from the evidence from Ana.” At Ana's name, James looks up and stares at me. I see the tears in his eyes.

“I'll be back. I can't stay in here any longer.” He stands and walks out with Maya following him.

“Well, Bossman, the bastard is one sick fuck. I suggest you and Duncan never watch the videos. Second, Mr. Smith is only a source, not a terrorist. And third, your girl got the good information.” A nurse walks in and our discussion ceases.

“Mr. Donovan, Mr. Preston, Dr. Parker wanted me to come out and let you know they are both doing better. The seizures have stopped. Your wife is stable now. A little longer and you'll be a proud papa.”
