She wraps her arms around me tighter, linking them. “I want you to come with me when I perform at The FlyOver.”

“You’re performing at The FlyOver? When did that happen?”

She nods. “When my album releases. I didn’t get a chance to tell you before everything happened.”

“Andie, that’s amazing. Of course, I’ll be there. I wouldn’t be anywhere else.” I kiss the top of her head, hugging her.

“It won’t be until after the season ends, so maybe we can stay for a bit.” Her face tips down. “At some point, I have to talk to my parents, and I’d really like you to be with me.”

I find her hands and link them with mine. “We’ll work through all of that together. Everything’s going to be alright.”

She pushes up to her toes and kisses me softly. “I love you.”

“I know.”

She kisses me again and then puts an arm around Ax, who’s been busy pushing his cereal off the counter and watching Snipe try to catch it.

We eat breakfast together, and while Andie showers and dresses, Ax and I take Snipe for a walk and then find a spot ona rug to spread out some of his toys. Andie gets busy ordering groceries and urgent necessities while I start perusing homes for sale.

As Ax naps on my chest, we sit on the couch, looking at a couple of homes the realtor sent me. Andie’s guitar sits across her lap, and her gentle strumming and quiet singing fills the house.

This is the only thing I want for the rest of my life. I didn’t know such a life existed, but if this can be mine, I’ll spend every day trying to be worthy of it.

Chapter 58

ANDIE

NORA: What kind of clothes do I need to bring?

ME: Ones that cover your body. Comfort is optional.

NORA: What if I want to go on a date?

ME: Definitely all the clothes, then.

NORA: You’re no fun.

NORA: Should I bring something extra revealing to wear to the games to fit in?

ME: Go to bed. I’ll see you in a few days.

NORA: SEE YOU IN A FEW DAYS!!

The security alarm beeps and Snipe dashes out of the room. The alarm is disarmed, and I know he’s home. It’s late, and I’m so tired, but waiting up for him is one of my favorite things because I actually have someone to wait up for. Just so happens he’s also my favorite person.

I hear his keys hit the counter. I know he’ll go to the refrigerator to grab a bottle of water before carefully checking on Ax and finally making his way to me. Snipe’s nails click in the background as he follows Sean from one stop to the next. Eventually, those footsteps and that tap, tap, tapping get closer.

“Hi.” He stands in the doorway looking tired and beat up, but his face brightens, and his lips turn upward. He played in Texas this afternoon and won, keeping the Kings winning streak going. The amount I’ve learned about football these past months is almost miraculous. I've learned to enjoy it despite constantly worrying he’ll get hurt.

“Hey. You look like you need about two hours in the hot tub and eighteen hours of sleep.”

He drops his bag by the closet. “Yes to both, but the only thing I want to do is shower and crawl in bed with you.”

I smile. “If it were earlier, I’d make a smart-ass comment, but I’m too tired, so hurry up. I’m cold, and we both need to sleep.”

Instead of heading into the bathroom, he comes around to my side of the bed, and using his finger to tip my chin up, he leans down to kiss me, taking his time. This…I’ll take this forever.

I push at his chest. “Go take a shower. Then I have good news for you.”
