“He should.” Skellin was desperate for revenge after we’d taken Kyle from him. I’d have to get security for Footit’s. I should have done so already.

“Hey.” Addy framed my face. “I’m okay. You’re okay. Don’t waste any more of the time we have together on him. All right?”

“Okay,” I said and took a deep breath.

When she went up on her toes and laid a big wet one on me, Skellin went to the back of my mind. The security could wait until tomorrow. I had her now, so I took over the kiss.

Getting into it, of course, I only vaguely noticed people flowing past us on their way inside. No Quarter wasn’t yet playing. After the scene outside, all the band members were hurrying to the stage. But recorded music from Addy’s service was on. Luckily, it was a slow song. I tongued Addy’s delectable mouth to the rhythm.

When she melted into me, I crushed her to me. My hands splayed low on her back over the scar that wasn’t a scar anymore but a tattoo of a butterfly, theMSnow spelling outMUSICon the wings.

It was Addy’s idea to get the tattoo, though she insisted that it was me who had inspired her.

I broke the seal between our mouths to let her sip some air, but I moved her to the dance floor with all the other couples. She wasn’t bartending tonight. She was my date. My other half. Maybe even the mother of my child. I got a little light-headed considering that.

Everything good in my life, except for Tommy, was because of Addy. And even he wouldn’t have come along if I hadn’t been running from what I felt for her.

I held Addy softly but firmly. The disco lights sparkled in her hair and her eyes. She was wearing the green top she’d worn for our first date, even though I was pretty sure I’d forbidden her from wearing it in public.

But Addy had a mind of her own, and I respected her. I would just make sure every other guy knew to look away.

She was mine. My butterfly. She was the agent of metamorphosis.

Time lost had been transformed into time found because of her. A sad boy with no place to call his own had a home because of her. And a man who had no rest without her had a place to belong.

“If I’m music,” I told Addy, low and soft near her ear, delighting in her shiver. “Then you are my song.”

“Oh, Barry.” She sighed, looped her arms around my neck, and gazed up at me, shuffling her feet in perfect time to the beat. “I dreamed of dancing with you like this.”

“You are my every dream fulfilled.” I rocked my hips in sync with hers.

“I love you,” she said sweetly.

“I love you,” I said, my voice a little rough. I would never take her or the gift of her love for granted. “And you just gave me the title I needed for the new piece I was playing earlier.”

“Really?” She tilted her head to an inquiring angle.

“Yeah.” I captured and tucked a wayward strand of gold behind her delicate, perfect, and oh so talented ear. “My song, because you’re my inspiration. For music. For life. For everything.”

“You’re my inspiration for all those things too.” She gave me those beautiful words; my words back but more as was her way and smiled.

She was right.

So totally right.

We were everything right for each other.
