“Yeah. But then you would have to deal with the incels that are no doubt gonna be there,” Sarah said.

I nodded. “Yeah, but a really cool cosplay would be nice. Maybe they’ll have a booth about those aliens? Maybe get a signed book? Do you know?”

Sarah jumped up and down. “Oh, my god. Did you finally finish that series? What I wouldn’t do to have a guy like that? Oral as hello? Hello to me!” Sarah said.

I giggled. “Yeah, yeah, I know.”

“Girl, I found a new book series. Really should recommend it. They light up when they find their mate. Like Christmas in July!” Sarah exclaimed. She twisted her body and shoved another flier in a passerby’s hand.

“Shut up,” I said, my cheeks growing warm. My eyes tracked Ricon. Would he shame me for reading alien smut? “Text it to me. Anyway, the new place I work at, my boss is a scientist, ya know. I think if he knew what I read, he would keel over.”

“Assistant?” she echoed. Another flier pushed into someone’s hand.

“Yeah. I fetch coffee, answer phones, and do filing most of the day while he studies computer readouts. There are some areas I don’t have access to that he tinkers in for a few hours every day, so I have a bit of downtime and I pull up the old book app some days. It’s the best job!”

“Well, I will hook you up with days’ worth of reads! You know I’m always hunting for the next monster cock!” she exclaimed. Her hand lifted as she showed me three fingers. “Did I tell you about the one with three?” My eyes flickered past her. Ric’s eyes were wide as he watched me.

My face grew warm as embarrassment pulsed through me. “Thanks but I got to go. Promised my friend we would go shopping,” I said. I waved toward Ric.

Sarah turned around and her eyes widened. Her lips parted. “Why hello there, tall drink of water,” she said. She turned back toward me and mouthed, “Boyfriend?”

I shook my head as I grabbed Ric’s hand and pulled him through the doors. “Who was that?” he asked.

“Old coworker. We like to read the same kinds of books and she gets the gig life.”

“What are these books about?” he asked as he stopped walking.

I turned toward him. “About . . . aliens. Yeah.” I wanted the earth to swallow me up.

His eyes narrowed as he watched me. My cheeks were practically in flames. “What was the thing on the flier? You mentioned being blue?”

I smiled slowly. “Well, some aliens in books and movies are blue. It’s an alien convention thing. Sometimes conventions like that hire girls to be sexy and stuff. Who wouldn’t like to be airbrushed blue and wear something sexy?”

His eyes darkened as his eyes traveled down my body. “Blue?”

“Yeah, you know, likeAvatar?”

“No, I don’t know what that is.”

“We can rent it later. Or I might have it somewhere. At least, the first one. Anyway, clothes. You are pretty tall. We should probably go to this store!” I said as I pointed to a men’s store.

Chapter 9

Ricon

As Chloe walked through the racks of clothes, I pulled out my wrist comm from the backpack. Off the wrist shield, it looked similar to the cell phones on Earth. I switched the hologram settings off and typedavatarinto the search engine. Images of blue-skinned, striped aliens appeared on the screen. Evidently, she was referring to a movie. Another search for alien books showed some various green aliens with enormous eyes on the covers or long cranial aliens. The way Chloe reacted, she seemed embarrassed to tell me about the books. Nothing I came across was very embarrassing. I am not sure why she tried to change the subject. She walked around a rack and handed me a pile of clothes.

“I think these will fit you? Wanna try them on?” she said.

I nodded. She flagged down an attendant who showed us the changing rooms. Inside the small room, I tried on the clothes. As I moved, I had to be careful not to snag my horns. At least I didn’t have a tail to hide like Chex. Chloe was pretty accurate with my size, which I was grateful for. I wasn’t sure what half the numbers on the clothes meant. I walked out with a pile of clothes. “How’d you know my size?” I asked.

Chloe beamed as she looked up from a chair. “I worked at a clothing store for a few months. I pick up things pretty quick.”

I tilted my head. My horn hit the side of the wall. I winced as I stepped away. Chloe’s eyes narrowed as she watched me. “You ready to check out?”

“Yeah,” I said as Chloe led me to the cash register.

We walked out of the store and Chloe continued to lead me through the various stores. She called it window shopping. As we walked, my eyes continuously drifted to her ass jiggling. Inside the stores, she would skip between the racks. Even though she said this outlet was a place to procure things cheaply, I noticed how her face fell whenever she looked at a price tag.
