“You hesitated.”

“I—I was stunned speechless by your beauty!”

“So, you go for older women? Are you after my money?”

“No, I was just—” I looked to Andrew and Laura for help, but they were looking anywhere but at me. “It’s a sign of respect!”

“Honey, if I wanted to be respected, I wouldn’t be wearing this dress to show off my ass.”

And then I turned bright red.

“I’m gonna go inside and start grabbing things,” Laura said, hiding her grin as she looked at me one last time.

“I’m gonna help her,” Andrew said, jerking his thumb over his shoulder.

And then I was left alone with Mrs. Robinson.

“So, are you going to make a move or wait for her to do the honors for you?”

“Sorry?” I asked, wondering what she was talking about.

“She’s staying with him, you know.”

“Yeah, I know,” I grumbled, trying not to sound so upset about it.

“And if you don’t do something about it, they’ll end up together. They’ve known each other their whole lives.”

Wait, she was on my side? “Do you not like him?”

“Oh, no,” she chuckled. “He’s one of the good ones. Honest and decent to a fault. In all the best ways.”

A shiver of disgust ran down my spine as she said the last part. I could be wrong, but it sounded…sexual in some way.

“Don’t worry. I’m taking care of it. She’ll be out of his house and in her own place by the end of the week.”

“I think you have the wrong idea. There’s nothing going on between us.”

“A big, strong man like you? Why wouldn’t she want you?”

“I don’t know,” I grumbled. “Ask his oversized wrench.”

“I’ll take her closet. You start packing up her dresser,” Andrew commanded.

I stuck my tongue out as he turned away from me. I didn’t take orders from anyone, especially not men who had the undivided attention of the woman I liked. But we were here to do a job, and now was not the time to argue.

I grabbed the duffle he tossed on the bed and strode over to the dresser, yanking open the top drawer. I instantly hated this job. Underwear—and not just the normal kind. There were lacy ones, silky ones, panties that were every shade of the rainbow, including my favorite color—red.

This was just wrong. Why was I stuck with this job when I could be packing dresses or sweaters? I took a deep breath and steeled my nerves. It was just another piece of clothing. I just had to pick it up and stick it in the bag. I grabbed the first pair and groaned. It was so soft and silky…

“What are you doing?” Andrew asked, walking over to me. His eyes darted to the drawer and he instantly turned red. “Oh.”

“Yeah,” I said uncomfortably. “Is there a…way to…pack them?”

“How should I know?”

“Well, you’ve known her longer. Does she like things packed a certain way?”

“What do you mean?”
