I’m lying on my back, and my father has his hands pressing against my wound.

The pain is so horrible I feel like I’ll pass out at any moment.

With every breath I take, my lips tremble with a mix of fear and hope.

My father’s strong hands are pressed against my wound, his eyes locked onto mine.

He inhales sharply and speaks with a steely resolve. “Don’t you worry about anything, Oak. You’re not dyin’ today. I won’t let the Reaper have you.”

I find it a little ironic he’s in the Reapers Rejects MC, and here he is talking to me about the Grim Reaper.

Emotion overflows in my voice as I respond, “If something bad happens, I want them to do everything they can to keep me alive. I’m not ready to die, Daddy.”

He shakes his head, his rugged features softening with love and concern. “You’re not going anywhere today. You hear me?”

His words are like a lifeline, giving me hope and strength to fight through the pain.

Whoever’s driving the SUV is acting like we’re in a fucking Grand Prix race.

I can feel every bump and turn, ultimately slamming into the side of the SUV.

I scream out in pain, and my father’s soft demeanor changes entirely.

Dad roars, “Chains, for fuck’s sake, can you learn to drive?!”

Chains grits back, “All I’m doin’ is tryin’ to get you two to the hospital as quickly as I can.”

Anger forms over my father’s face.

I clear my throat and speak up, “It’s okay. Just get me there.”

The urgency of our situation hangs heavy in the air, each second feeling like an eternity as we race toward help.

The deep rumble of the engine fills my ears, competing with the frantic sound of my own breathing.

My heart beats like a drum in my chest, a constant reminder that I’m still alive and able to fight.

I’m not going to die.

I refuse to fucking die!

But, as time passes, my vision begins to deteriorate, spots dancing in front of my eyes and blurring my surroundings.

Desperately, I lick my dry lips, trying to hold on as the edges of my vision start to fade.

I lock eyes with my father and open my mouth to call out for him, but before I can form the words, darkness overtakes me.

The world falls away into an abyss of darkness.

Present Day . . .

Razor

The glaring neon lights of Los Angeles cast a surreal glow on the streets as I cruise through the city, exhausted from my long ride.

I’m dead ass tired from the lengthy journey I’ve been on.
