Razor nods in understanding. “Don’t worry, I won’t say a thing.”

I nod, a sense of security washing over me.

I thought he’d preach at me for not telling my father, but I’m glad he’s not.

Razor ends up taking a call, leaving me in the kitchen by myself.

I clean everything up and head back to my room, deciding to relax for a bit.

Somehow, I fell asleep and a few hours passed by before I woke up.

I grab my phone and notice a text message from Ebony, asking if we can meet up for coffee.

Texting her back, I apologize for the delay and we both agree to meet in about thirty minutes.

I wash my face and leave the club, heading to the usual spot Ebony and I go for lunches, which is a nice deli coffee shop combination.

The sun dips low in the sky, casting an inviting glow over the coffee shop.

My heart pounds in my chest as I approach the door, knowing I’m going to tell Ebony about what I’m doing.

Ebony greets her, waving me over to a cozy corner table."Hey girl!"

She looks amazing in form-fitting leggings, paired with an oversized KISS sweater. Her long, black curls frame her face perfectly.

I wave, sliding onto the chair across from her. "Hey Eb,"

Ebony can tell something’s up and doesn’t waste any time grilling me. “What the hell’s the matter with you?”

Licking my lips nervously, I fess up. "Razor asked me to go with him to Mexico.”

A surprised smile spreads across Ebony's face, "Wow, Oak! That's . . . fucking nuts. What are you going to do?”

My chest tightens and my nerves are on the Frits. “I think I’m gonna go.”

Ebony nods, smiling widely. “I think it’s great that you’re doing something adventurous like this, and I think you should go. I don’t know him well, but he seems like he’s the kind of man who will take care of you.”

Without a doubt, I know she’s right.

Razor is the kind of man who would kill for those he cares about, and I think I could be one of those people.

Relief storms through me. "Thank you, Eb. I was so worried you’d tried to talk me out of it.”

Ebony gives me a knowing look. "Oak, there’s no way in hell I’d do that. Sometimes we have to jump out of our comfort zone and experience life. This could be the journey of a lifetime, so go, and have fun.”

Nodding, I’m grateful for her support. “Thank you. I’m glad you’re supporting me. I’m . . . I’m not going to tell my dad I’m leaving. He’ll try to talk me out of it.”

Ebony chuckles, “How about you let me handle that overprotective father of yours? I’m sure I can convince him to cut you some slack.”

I raise my brows and break into a fit of laughter. “Eb, he’s married, and my stepmom is pregnant!”

Ebony cracks up, “Shit, sorry, I didn’t know. I’ll give him a stern talking to, then! All you need to think about is how much fun you’re going to have. Think about it, a big, burly biker taking you for a ride into Mexico. It’s going to be such an adventure. I’m envious, honestly.”

Ebony’s calming every nerve I had about doing this.

I’m glad to have a friend like her because there’s a good possibility I would’ve talked myself out of going.

Ebony takes a sip of her latte, “One thing I need you to do though—-find me a hot biker to shack up with, okay?”
