I chuckle, “I think I have you covered on that. There’s plenty to choose from.”

A few moments of silence pass us by.

"Oak, I promise you, everything will work out," Ebony’s doing her best to reassure me, and it’s working. "Give into the present moment and trust Razor to keep you safe. You can let your guard down with him."

I smile and nod. “I will. Honestly, he’s somehow cracked through my walls already.”

Ebony throws her head back in laughter, “I’m sure he’s cracked through more than one wall of yours,”

“Eb!” I chastise her and we both crack up laughing.

I was a bit nervous about the spur of the moment decision I made last night, but not anymore.

Going to Mexico is undoubtedly the best decision I could make right now.

The moon hangs low in the sky, looking like it’s about to collide with Earth.

It casts a silvery glow on the bustling streets below the clubhouse, and here I am, standing on the rooftop overlooking everything.

Glancing down at my phone, I see it’s three in the morning.

Everyone’s asleep and it just so happens we’ll be leaving shortly.

I spoke with Oakleigh last night about when she wanted to leave today, and she told me she wanted to get going while the others were asleep.

I’d likely feel guilty about this if I was the kind of man who gave a shit, but I’m not.

Oakleigh wants to leave without telling her father a thing, and I’m not going to be the person who stops her.

She needs this escape, and I’m going to see that it comes to fruition.

I leave the rooftop and head down to the top floor, where mine and Oakleigh’s rooms are.

I push open her door and catch her shoving a few more things in her bag. “Are you ready?”

I search her dark chocolate eyes, curious to know if she has any reservations about what we’re doing.

Oakleigh nods, her face a combined mixture of excitement and fear. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” she pauses and laughs, “I can’t believe we’re actually doing this.”

I chuckle, “Me neither, but here we are.”

So much has changed in the last few days.

Oakleigh’s visa is in effect, and nothing is stopping her from tagging along with me to Mexico.

If anyone were to ask me right now, I’d tell them she needs this, that she needs to get away and start fresh.

Her staying here is going to guarantee her death, even if others might not see it that way.

"Let's go then," Oakleigh comments with a smile as she throws her bag over her shoulder.

I nod, ready as ever to get going.

We leave her room and head into mine. I throw my bag over my shoulder and we go all the way downstairs, heading outside through the back door.
