I’ve made some mistakes in the past, but it’s not anything that would cause Oakleigh to abandon me.

Oakleigh means the world to me.

No matter what Hammer thinks, does, or says, I'll fight for her until my dying breath.

Taking a deep breath, I try to remain calm. “I’m never going to hurt your daughter. I’ll be the one breakin’ fuckin’ knees for her.” I tell him firmly, letting the sincerity of my words show in my gaze. “And one day, you’ll be glad I’m the one who stands in front of her.”

Hammer looks at me for a moment, his eyes filled with anger. “There will never be a day I’m happy my daughter settled for you.”

Shaking my head, I know there’s no use.

Hammer has painted me as the bad guy in his mind, and that’s how it’s going to be.

“Razor,” Rosa's voice cuts through the tension, and I turn to her.

Her face is etched with worry, causing me to wonder what’s bothering her.

I shift my attention to her, because Hammer can fucking wait. “Hey, what’s up?”

She takes a deep breath, her eyes darting between me and Hammer.

I wrap my arm around my sister’s waist and walk over to somewhere a bit more private. “What’s going on, Rosa?”

She licks her lips, “There’s something I haven’t told you, something I should have. Our father . . . he arranged a marriage for me. Obviously, I didn’t go through with it and married Axel instead. But, the other guy knew where I was. He called me when I was in Montana.”

Well, that’s a lot to unpack.

I run a hand over my head, “Damn, okay. Why are you bringin’ this up right now?”

She swallows hard, “Because I just got a call from a Bolivian number,”

Licking my lips, I know what this means.

Whoever this guy is, he’s not giving up easily.

I keep my voice low, trying not to attract any unwanted attention. “Have you told Axel?”

Rosa bites her lip and nods. “Yeah, but he thought I should tell you. He’s already done the whole ‘no one will touch you, blah, blah, the club will protect you’ stuff.”

I chuckle, “Well, he’s not wrong,” I place a hand on my sister’s shoulder. “Whatever happens, we’ll handle it.”

Oakleigh

As much as I hate to say it, everything has been so much easier since my dad left.

It's been over a month since he headed back to Los Angeles, and in that month things have been pretty good.

Running a hand over my braids, I now trace the combination of teal, sea green, and purple.

It’s a new combination I had put in about a week ago, and it’s my favorite so far.

Taking a step back, I stare at the half-done mural I have on the wall.

It’s the Reapers Rejects MC logo.

Amara asked me a few days ago if I’d mind doing a few things for the club, and this was one of them.
