The meeting concludes and I can’t help but feel excited for the changes.

I was on the fence about accepting this position, but I’m glad I took it.

The future is starting to look brighter, especially with Oakleigh telling me she loved me the other day.

There’s just one issue I still have to deal with: her father.

We all shuffle out of Amara’s office and head into the main area of the clubhouse.

It’s pretty barren, with only a few prospects sitting around, while Oakleigh’s sitting in the corner.

Her colorful braids cascade down her back, while she stares intensely at her phone.

Hammer’s in front of me and heads to the bar area that Dante, Rooster, and Brick have been working on for the last week.

Turning slightly, he notices I’m heading for his daughter.

The tension in the air immediately becomes thick, as a scowl etches across his face.

I can’t leave shit like this between us, especially since Oak and I are getting so close.

Heading straight for him, I’m praying like hell this won’t turn into a bloodbath.

Keeping my voice steady, despite wanting to automatically hit him is harder than I thought. “I think you and I need to have a chat.”

He crosses his arms and snaps, “About what?”

Is he fucking kidding me right now?

I meet his gaze head-on. “Oakleigh.”

Hammer scoffs, “We don’t need to talk about shit.”

I shake my head, keeping my voice stern. “Yes, we do. We can’t keep doin’ this shit, man. I know you’re not happy about us bein’ together, but I want to make some sort of peace before you head back home.”

Hammer cocks a brow, “Who says I’m heading back home?”

Amara’s voice rings out of nowhere. “I am. You represent us for the Satan’s Raiders, and your place is in Los Angeles, not here.”

Hammer knows he can’t argue with her, so he doesn’t.

Instead, he picks his battle with me. “There’s no way we’re ever going to make peace. You think it’s okay to be with my daughter when you’re almost twenty years her senior. It’s fuckin’ sick.”

Do I really have to remind him this?

Grunting, I point out the obvious. “Oakleigh’s a grown ass woman who can make her own decisions.”

Balling my fists at my sides, I try to keep my wits about me.

Still, anger courses through me, so I continue. “She is fully capable of making her own choices, and she chose to be with me.”

Hammer scoffs, shaking his head. “She’s young and she doesn’t know any better,” He takes a few steps toward me, glaring at me with all his might. “But I do, and you should cut it off with her before you regret it.”

Oh, before I regret it?

Arching a brow, I don’t back down. “I’m not gonna regret shit,” I fight to keep my voice level when all I want to do is scream at him. “I’m not gonna let anyone or anything come between me and her, including you.”

Hammer snarls, “Is that so? You might be the VP of this club, but you’re sure as fuck not gonna be the man my daughter ends up with. I know your true colors, and I’ll make damn sure she sees them too.”
