“Yes, sir.” I swallowed hard. “May I have a spare key to get in?”

He gave a shrug. “Your door is open.”

“Why?” Panic seeped into my bones.

“Just is.” He licked his lips. “In case you came back.”

“Oh.” I tried to swallow, and my throat ached. “Uh, thanks.”

“Anytime, sweet cheeks.” He chuckled as I walked away.

Is that all I am to people? A side of meat? A piece of ass?

Stomping my way up to my apartment, I grumbled to myself. I hated how most people treated me. The only time anyone was kind was this weekend.

Maybe I should go back to Sebastian’s parents.

Each step up to my floor felt sticky because no one ever cleaned the dimly lit hall. And Simon’s scent grew stronger.

Sebastian’s dads made me feel welcome and loved. My own fucking parents hated me! But his didn’t. His entire pack was kind. And yet I ran from them.

Simon’s scent overwhelmed me as I stood outside the door to my apartment. My hand paused on the doorknob.

Maybe I should go to his parents and explain?

I turned to leave and the door to my apartment flew open, and Simon’s voice filled my ears. “I knew you’d come back to me.”

“No!” I shoved him away from me as hard as I could and ran to the stairs.

His large body slammed against mine, pressing me against the wall. He grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked my head back. “I can smell others on you, bitch.”

“Let go of me!” I squirmed, trying to slip out from between him and the wall.

“You’re hurting my feelings, omega.” He made loud sniffing noises. “I can smell at least four other scents on you.”

“Fuck. Off.” I growled and reached behind me to dig my claws into his hips.

“Mm, my little slut wants to play.” His hand darted in between the wall and clamped tightly around my throat. “Let’s play.” He licked the side of my face and drug me back to my apartment by my neck. “No where to run, bitch.” He growled and threw me on the floor. “I made sure the windows are blocked.”

A scream cut through the fear, and he laughed. “You know as well as I do, these apartments are soundproofed.”

Shit. He was right.

“You know, having Sebastian show up wasn’t a smart move.” He stepped closer to me. “You’re gonna pay for that.”

I scrambled back in a crab walk to get away from him, and my hand landed in some broken glass, making me cry out and stop.

Simon stepped over me and dropped to his knees, pinning me down. “You’re my omega. And you belong in the Grimclaw pack.”

“Fuck you!” I spit in his face and he backhanded me so hard all I saw were stars and darkness.

Nine

Sebastian

I sat in my psych class listening to my uncle drone on about Freud. My leg bounced while I doodled in my notebook.

Nolan’s scent clung to my body, and I wanted to race out of here and find him.
