Last night was so much better than I ever dreamed of.

I opened the linen closet and pulled out two towels and a washcloth, then hung them over the side of the shower before opening the door and getting in.

The shower surprised me with its interior size. We could both shower together and not step on each other.

I set my water temperature and let the warm water rinse away any negative thoughts I had. Living here with Sebastian would be a dream come true, and I didn’t have to look back at my family.

Sebastian’s scent calmed my nerves and felt like it hugged my body.

Leaning my head back, I felt my long hair tickle my back as water ran through it and then gave it a good washing, twice. Then I used his conditioner. Taking my washcloth, I soaped it up and washed my body, noticing some bruises had disappeared.

I squealed with joy and finished washing myself. I could’ve shut the water off, but it felt so good I stood there for several minutes more.

He loved playing cards, board games, going for runs, cooking and kissing.

The heat of the water combined with last night’s memories had me dizzy. Reaching over, I shut the water off and wrapped my hair up with a towel turban and then wrapped the other around my body.

Stepping from the steamy bathroom, I heard voices and hurriedly dried off and grabbed a random shirt from his drawer to go see who was here.

As I walked down the hall, the conversation stopped me in my tracks.

“It’s not what I want to do either, Anders, but before there’s a war, we have to at least be civil.”

“Dillon. I’m not saying what my son did was okay. I’m saying that if Lane would handle his son, this wouldn’t even be an issue.”

Oh no. Because of me there’s talk of pack war!

I recognized Sebastian’s dad’s voice. The other voice wasn’t one I knew. I stood on the side of the wall and peered around the corner, and saw Leslie smile at me.

“Come join us, Nolan. You should hear what’s going on with the packs.” He motioned me forward.

I walked around the corner and went to sit by Leslie.

“Nolan, that’s Dillon, our pack leader.” He pointed to the immense man sitting at the far end of the island across from us. “Beside him is Arden Bright, his delta. And on the other side is Luigi De Luca, Julius and Charity’s dad.”

I lifted my hand in an awkward wave and scooted closer to Leslie.

“Nolan.” Dillon sat forward, as did Arden.

Here it comes. He’s going to tell me to leave.

“You joining our pack isn’t an issue.”

What?

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I held.

“Not with us.” His second in command added. “But Lane is saying that we took you against your will.”

An unattractive guffaw, sounding like a donkey braying, left my mouth and my hand flew up to cover the sound.

All around me, laughter broke out.

“We were relatively sure you were ready to leave.” Anders went to the fridge and pulled out a Tasty Tom’s sack, walking it over to me. “A little birdie told me this was your favorite sandwich place”

I felt my eyes grow larger. “It… it is.”

He handed me the sack, and then Leslie pushed a Styrofoam cup to me. “Lemonade to wash it down.”
