“I’m so confused.” I half-heartedly laughed.

“That’s okay.” He lifted my hand and pressed a kiss to it. “You can take as long as you need to process through it all.”

When the alarm went off, I woke up feeling rested. The smell of coffee permeated the bedroom, and I rolled out of bed to get a cup.

“How do you take it?” His morning voice affected me, making my cock hard. The low, deep timber gave me goosebumps.

“Black.” I rubbed my eyes, getting the sleep out of them, and sat at the island. “This kitchen is fantastic.” My head swiveled as I took it all in.

“It is. It’s actually what made me buy the house.” He set a cup down in front of me and leaned on the island, sipping his coffee. “I love cooking and this place had the counter room to do just about damn near anything.”

“I love baking.” I sighed. “Cooking is fun too, but I love sweets.”

He motioned to the fridge, where a magnetic pad of paper stuck on the front. “That’s for groceries. Just jot down whatever we need or want.”

“Do you work?” My eyes scrunched up.

“I do.” He smiled. “I work for my dads.”

“I clean apartments on the weekends.” I smiled back at him.

“If you want to work, that’s fine.” He reached for my hand. “But you don’thaveto work.”

I shrugged. “I don’t know that I want to be a “kept” man.”

Sebastian threw his head back in laughter. “Give it some thought. I’m going to get dressed.”

“Can I take my coffee with me into the bedroom?”

He nodded, and I slid off the stool and followed him to get dressed. The rest of the morning was blissfully peaceful, and he drove us to the university, parking and then he walked with me to my first class, kissing me before I could enter the room.

“You have my number, text, call, whatever, if you need anything.” His thumb stroked my cheek.

My head bobbed, and I smiled up at him. “Charity is in this class with me.”

“Damn, right.” She walked up to us. “Don’t worry, Bas, I got him.”

“Thanks, Charity.”

She hooked her arm with mine and pulled me into the room. “So, Nolan? How’s tricks?” She giggled and led me to the back row, where we preferred to sit.

“Overwhelming.” I sighed and set my backpack on the floor.

“Bad?” She broke her candy bar in half and handed me some.

I smiled and nibbled on the sweet chocolate. “Not bad. But I keep waiting for him to stop being nice.”

“Nolan.” She tilted her head. “Why do you think he’ll change?”

My shoulders lifted in a shrug. “Most people do.”

She tilted her head and glared at me. “I didn’t. Flynn didn’t.”

“Yet.” I whispered.

“Is that all the faith you have in our friendship?”

I wiped a tear away. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
