Once Nolan stepped through the door, the judge went over to him. “Nolan, I hope you find peace from this mess.”
“Thank you, your honor.”
“Call me, Brice.” He gave Nolan a bear hug and then set him down beside me. “You be good to your omega.”
“I plan to.” I offered my hand to shake.
Brice accepted and then waved as he went to his truck.
“Ready to go home?” I tilted Nolan’s face up to meet mine.
“Yes.” He sighed and slipped around me to get into the car.
My dad grabbed my arm. “He’s feeling ripped open. Be gentle.”
“I will, dad.” I wrapped my arms around Leslie, and he went with pop to their car.
I’m glad Lane called in an impartial person to mediate. But I’m not dumb enough to think Simon won’t retaliate.

Nolan
As we drove home, I waited for Sebastian to scold me or be angry at me for causing all this trouble.
When we stopped at a red light, he looked over at me and smiled.
“What?” I swallowed hard, preparing for the backlash.
“I’m not an idiot.” He shook his head.
Here it comes.
“You and I both know Simon will pull something.”
I tilted my head and looked at him. “What?”
“C’mon, baby, you have to know he’s not going to let it drop.”
My head bobbed, but I still felt confused. “Aren’t you mad?”
“At Simon and Lane? Hellyeah.” He pulled forward when the light changed. “With your family? Oh, yeah.”
“No.” I fidgeted with the button on my shirt. “With me.”
“What? No.” He reached for my hand. “Why would I be mad at you?”
“Because I brought all this crap to you and your pack.” I tried to pull my hand away, and he tightened his fingers holding on.
“Nolan, this isn’t your fault.” He looked over with sorrow in his eyes. “I’m sorry I didn’t find you sooner.”
“What?” I choked out a sob.
“No one deserves what you’ve been through.” He shook his head. “And your parents should’ve protected you.”
“Sebastian.” I sniffled. “I don’t know how to react.”
“When we get home, we can snuggle up and rest. Then tomorrow we’ll go to classes.”
